When you people state your class rank is that W or UW?

Or is the difference negligible?

I know someone knows. Come on people, when you say you’re in the top 8.5% is that using your weighted or unweighted gpa?

ah my school doesn’t rank.
but I believe that it depends on the school - but I think the majority use weighted.

My school doesn’t rank, but they also don’t even list an UW GPA, so I would assume that the majority of class ranks given are weighted.

At my school class rank is based on your weighted GPA. If class rank was based on unweighted GPA, people would just take easy classes to get that 4.0.

Schools rank differently–mine uses WGPA. But when people report their GPA’s on here, they tend to use UW, as that’s what is the best mode of comparison (weighting mechanisms vary across schools).

Unweighted GPA
weighted rank

unless you’re dumb like my school and you have unweighted ranks
