when you volunteer at a hospital

do you just go and ask?
or do you need some info with it
if so what?
can somebody tell me?

every hospital has a volunteer services department. they are always looking for volunteers.

When I decided to volunteer at a hospital, I just went there and asked to speak to the head of the volunteering department (or something similar to that). The very nice lady told me that if I am a minor then I have to have working papers. Then she gave me an application to fill out. Then I came back with the filled application(the application had a required guidance counselor recomendation form) and permission forms and the nice lady sent me to a nearby doctor to get a physical, drug test, and blood test. I had to wait less than a week to get the results. Then I watched the HIPPA(spelling? lol) video on volunteering ethics and dos/don'ts. The nice lady also gave me the hospital policy and gave me a statement to sign. Afterwards, she asked me where in the hospital I'd like to volunteer.
and voila! now I volunteer in the admitting office and the ER(greeting patients).

(the order of events may be a bit skewed as I can't remember exactly which event came first.lol)

I hope that helped!

thanks it really helped!
but just one little thing...
blood test?!
i have to give blood? ;_;
i hate needle in my skin

you shouldn't worry too much! I hate them too but if you get a nice nurse like the one I had then you'll survive!

Good luck and have fun!
