When do they send out and how?? Through e-mail notification? or snail mail?
Thanks!

email, end of march, before april 1st.

i got an email today saying we wouldn't find out until the first week of april. i was hoping we would find out before april 1st so that I could visit again over my spring break (1st week of april)

Is it a bad sign if we didn't receive that email?

ditto that
I didn't get it either :-(

You should find out before April 1st. But with so many notifications going out, somethings take a little longer.

I know a few people during my year that didn't get their decisions until about a week or so into April. BU had a record number of applicants this year, up 4000 over the past year. I think it is up to about 38,000 applicants now for around 4,000 seats in the freshman class. It will certainly be more selective and take a bit longer to make decisions this year. I could see it taking an extra week.

the email was actually sent to my mom, but she forwarded it to me.

this is sort of off topic, but does bu (or any other private school for that matter) calculate first semester senior grades into ur gpa? i've always been told no, and that they only look at it to check for consistency, but lately i've seen a post stating otherwise.

First semester senior grades are your most important. Regardless of whether they are refigured into a new GPA, they need to be good.

I never got that e-mail. And I think we should be able to find out earlier. 1st week of April is tad bit late.

That's when a lot of boston schools send out decisions. BU was definitely the last school I heard from, last week in march-ish

Never got that e-mail either.

annaes1204: why did your mom get that e-mail and who was it from? curious, because it doesn't sound like anybody else got it.

This is the letter we (parents) got by email last week:

"Thank you for supporting "your student's" application to Boston University. We are currently in the process of reviewing all applications.

Boston University communicates with applicants via e-mail and through their Boston University Web Accounts. We strongly encourage "your student" to log into her Web Account to check the status of her application, confirm that we have received all required credentials, and verify personal data. We suggest she continue to check our website until she is certain that all required credentials have been received.

If "your student" has not yet set up a Web Account, please encourage her to do so. Once admissions decisions are posted online in early April, she will also be able to use this site to view her decision online.

Please contact the Office of Admissions at 617-353-2300 or via e-mail admissions@bu.edu if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Kelly A. Walter

I (parent) got it last week. But at some point in the application process there was either an option for applicants to let parents be emailed or an option for parents to choose to receive email--I can't remember which. Perhaps those who have not received the email just didn't chose that option, or didn't know they had a choice. My son did not receive an email like this, so I forwarded it to him.

(I'm glad to see that they tailored it to each gender instead of saying "If Student Name has not yet set up a Web Account, please encourage THEM to do so.")

exactly, elizabethh. my mom got it a couple weeks ago. It wasn't sent to students themselves.

My D got a similar e-mail to the one posted by elizabethh on Feb 13, perhaps because she gave them her e-mail address instead of mine.

This makes more sense now. They are getting close to releasing decisions and they want to be certain that students have set up their account so they can access their decision. I was concerned that we hadn't received any e-mail, but S had set up web account a long time ago. Good luck to everyone!!

I got same letter last week and I forwarded to my daughter also.
