When's your A & O?

Hey all,

What A & O date did you sign up for?

I'm June 22-23.

July 6-7, health sciences

june 26-27... gotta study up on that espanol

I just had mine, June 19-20. Really boring because they have you for 16 hours of two days. Lots of walking and tours and boring information. But I've got my classes and my Husky ID =]

wny so boring? didn't u get to stay in a dorm (which one?) and meet people, go out to dinner or something entertaining? did u get the classes u want? did all of u fill up the classes i want? are u doing a FIG? how shall i avoid boredom when my session occurs in july? do u bore easily? ? ? iz oregon more . . . riveting? i would intuit that it is not . . .

Okay first of all it CAN be fun if you know some people. I didn't know one person, and I guess it's hard for me to approach groups of random people. I met maybe 5-6 people and I stayed with them. I stayed in the dorm and we went out on the Ave at night and got bubble tea. Plus we had to sleep early and wake up early. Plus it's hella easy to register, it's all online, I coulda done it at home. And the tours take so long and it sucks. But have a friend with you and you'll be good. If you can meet people easily then you'll have fun.

steve, did u expect people to be friendlier? did people just hang with their homies from high school? no one from my hs is going. your a & o didn't have a theme like health science, arts, whatever, right? i am relying on the arts majors to shower me with affection, lol. maybe u should have signed up for one with a theme???

is the later your A and O session the worse it is? if u sign up earlier does that mean you are more likely to get your classes? when will people stop being able to get the classes that they want?

It's all fish and gravy. I had a general A and O session. There are all the classes for me to choose from. Umm... I didn't wanna choose a theme cuz I'm not exactly sure what I wanna do, leaning towards business. Yes people hung out with their homies from HS, and my homies from hs, the two of them aren't going to their A and O till August, so I was alone, and there was maybe... 5 people out of 300 from Oregon. I didn't know a soul, and I guess it's hard to talk to people when you're alone and everyone else has a group. Big waste of time, cuz they just unlock your registration online, and they show you how to do it, it's all online. I bet there will be plenty of time to sign up for classes, there won't be too much of a problem registering unless you register right before school starts or something. And when you register, if you sign up for the class, that means you have the class, doesn't mean you're on a waiting list, who signs up first gets it I guess, until the class is filled, or unless the class has requirements or something. Plus there is like... 6 hours of tours and random stuff, it was really boring, plus I had a group with no hot girls or nothing... Well there was one, but she wasn't my type, she was cool though, I'll count her as one of the 5 or so friends I made that day. I wish I had at least one buddy with me, so that we coulda went around and met people. Make sure you have one friend with you when you go to it, unless you're really social, which I thought I was, but I guess I'm not.

yeh..not going to have a friend to go with since i kno no one. i'm doin the health n sciences one (july 6 -7). on the tours do they show u the dorm rooms or is just a tour of the buildings?

Everything... Dorms on the second day, if you choose that, you can choose to go with the dorms group, or the greek life group, or the commuting group. It's so boring on the tours, I didn't listen, it was so boring, lots of walking.

July 31... Way too long, as far as I'm concerned. When do the tours end? I decided to get a dorm in between days, and I'd probably want to just go and hit up Seattle for a while.

I stayed in the dorms for a night. They take up 8 hours on both days to show you crap, and after you can do what you want. The night when you stay in the dorms, they have activities like movies and going out on the Ave but you can do what ever the do diddly you want, no one will stop you, and they give you a card to get back into the dorms and whatever.

Steve is right thou, it's easier to meet people if you have one friend with. Don't get me wrong, I'm not sayin to stay with your friend the whole time, it just makes things more comfortable and easier to approach people. Luckily for me, one of my friends, who i didn't know was going to be there, was in my peer group and my interest group. i met a lot of people and ran into a bunch of people that knew friends of mine. It's a small world... lol

xbballx

I am also doing the health sciences on July 6th. I have to get there a day early too and I know NO ONE! We should find eachother so we "sorta" know someone. I'm friendly...I think..lol :)

damn, 2 straight days of walking around campus in 90 degree heat is not very fun.

The time schedule sucks this quarter. Look at the classes/FIG you want before you go. It makes it go much faster.

laura

haha yea we should because this thing sounds so boring if u dont kno n e one. 8 hrs of tours...do parents go to this thing?

does anyone wanna have health and science and wanna meet up me. we can do a campus tour together . my A & O is on june 6 ,7.

aug 3-4 business.
