They must have made their decisions by now because on the CMU website under the admissions blog, it says they will begin mailing their letters on Friday, March 20, 2009 and continue to do so in batches for a week or so. It says your decision is available on line three days after they mail the letter. So, if they are going to begin mailing out the letters on the 20th, one would anticipate if they want to call the lucky ones first, they will do so this week.

What "blank line" is that? Wher do I look for it on the Process page?

It looks like it might be the empty box labeled "decision" next to where it shows your preferred school and major. It just showed up for my D as well.

I heard a rumor from some of my students (current seniors) that THEY heard that CMU would begin making calls today, or early this week. That may be true, but I'm guessing it's kind of unlikely, as I just came from their NYC Senior Showcase dress rehearsal and most of the faculty was there (and will be tied up with Showcase until at least Wednesday). Gary Kline, who made calls to most (if not all) MT acceptees last year is playing for the Showcase. Just wanted to let everyone know in case you were waiting! (I know last year Showcase was at the same time and they began to make calls the following weekend and continued into Monday and Tuesday.)

Thanks, CoachC!

Do you know whether those accepted into the acting program (and who were open to either mt or acting) find out by phone call, too? Does it happen at the same time as the mt phone calls?

Numbers

I read last years posts saying CMU was only taking 3 girls that year. How many will they take this year?

last year they actually only ended up accepting 1 girl for mt from auditions

Hi MusicTTXMom, i'm a freshman at the school and so far we had one girl accepted through pre-college auditions this summer, so they should probably take 3 or 4 more girls. Don't quote me though. Usually they look for a class of 5 girls and 7 boys.

Thank you CarnegieMT2012!

Can anyone confirm that the "Blank Line" is the blank box under "Decision" in the College Choices section? My S's is blank but it could have always been that way for all I know. I kept looking for a blank line in the Admission Documents section. After NMR's response about the file pulled comments I am totally confused as there is no file pulled indication for my S. Perhaps the "blank line" is not an indication of anything either. Talk about nerves! Thanks!

The blank box under decision has always been there. But some people have seen a blank line/box under 'received' column. Hope this helps :)

Guys, it's almost over. Honest. One thing you should try your best to do is not to fixate on the "Where Am I In The Process" web site, for a few reasons. The main one is that it is probably not where you are going to find out if you have gotten in (you will likely get a phone call first) and secondly, you will drive yourselves crazy!!

That said, we went through the same thing in our house last year. :)

My s just heard his decision (a bit early) directly from a mt associate professor. Nothing changed on his communications link. I agree that there is no way of knowing the final decision until you get the news directly from the horse's mouth (so to speak!)!

Amen to that. My D's page hasn't changed in weeks. But she had an awesome audition with CMU, was shuttled and had a very positive comment made to her by someone who counts. So I'm not sweating the fact her page hasn't changed, has no blank line. If it is meant to be, the phone will ring, or the "big fat envelope" will come. It not, so be it. We will know soon enough.......

MO2, has your son gotten the acceptance call....? Did I read that right? If so, MUCHO CONGRATS! Add him to the acceptance lists!

lpc,
If I recall correctly from the CMU campus visit, admitted Actors receive phone calls, too (Barbara Mackenzie-Woods makes those calls, is what I heard from the kids there). Last year it was around this time of March. Letters go out afterwards.

MO2- Was your son admitted early through Pre-College or was he called this weekend from one of the MT professors informing him he was accepted?

Carnegie Mellon has started to make calls - one of my students got a call from Gary Kline about an hour ago. He said "We auditioned over 1000 students this year and we have offered 5 girls admission and you are one of them."

Good luck to everyone!!

One of our male students just got in for MT also - he got an email because they didn't have his phone number for some reason. It seems like they may be making all their calls tonight, but you also may get an email.
