Hey everybody! I'm a drummer in my school's marching band. My school has one of the most prestigious marching bands in Pennsylvania, the Delaware Valley, and the whole Northeast! We've played in Quebec, Orlando, the Rose Bowl, at the Bi-Centennial celebration, and have played for Pope John Paul II. What are your marching bands like? Are you guys a part of any ensembles? Do you play for the concert band as well?

Ummm French Horn Player over here. We do military marching and have had 63 years of consecutive Division 1’s in the UIL marching contest. We also do UIL concert Sweepstakes(45 years maybe?). Apparently every year they want our band to compete in the National Miltary Association competition or something, but we have Honor America around the date(Honors People in the Military every year). Individually you can do All-Region/Area/State and Solo & Ensemble and State Solo and Ensemble.

I’m a flutist in our marking band. We’re a small AA band, but we always go to BOA. We also play for the disabled soldiers that fly in around Veterans day. Aside from marching band, I play the oboe in concert band and full orchestra. I’ve done Solo and Ensemble since 7th grade and I’ve always gotten 1s.

I play tuba.
There is nothing impressive about my band
I’m not here to talk it up
I play tuba what do you want from me? =D
Just throwing it out there though, we do parades too ^.^ We did Chicago last year, Disney this and Toronto next its fun

I play alto sax in a Group VA (USBands). We played at Giants Stadium (or MetLife, for the pedantic) a week ago, which was fun!
In general we do fairly well; I think our highest score last year was ~94.
Oh, and I’m also in the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Orchestra. In Orchestra I basically just double french horn parts, though.

EWWWWWWW! BAND GEEKS!!!

jkjk I used to be one of you.

I’ve been playing flute for four years, starting out in my middle school band. Now, I’m in my high school symphonic band (which is nothing to brag about…) and my local youth orchestra. I hate band but love orchestra. Band is THE least productive class I’ve ever been in, and we haven’t really been doing anything for the past couple weeks except figure out by ear how to play Seven Nation Army… Orchestra’s really fun though. I love the pieces that we’re playing, and we’re holding a bunch of concerts this year, our regular ones as well as some that we’ve been invited to play at. So excited!!!

Male clarinet player here! Senior rookie too, so I’m a double contradiction!

Female Tromboner represent! lol
but yeah, i play trombone…and i’ve been the only girl for past 6 years haha (I got my section leader spot taken away sigh)
Our school band contains marching/concert. We’re pretty well known in our area of school since we won 1st place for some well known competition. We have practice over tuesdays and thursday night from 6-9 and let me tell you, it’s exhausting! I’m sure you guys all know this! lol We perform in various prades, games, competitions and etc. We’re going to France this spring~

I’m a female trumpet player. ;p I play first trumpet. I’m in the Symphonic band and the Marching band. We compete in USSBA. We are the 5x state champions. We’re in class 4a. We won 2nd place at National’s last year in Anappolis, Maryland. We’ll be competing at USSBA National’s in New Jersey this year. I’m excited. It’s my senior year. Also, our symphonic band is performing at VMEA this year. I’m pumped yo. 6 more practices until nationals.<3 I’m going to miss it.

I might take a year off instead of going straight into college. I’m thinking about marching drump corps with Carolina Crown. :)

I was in Colorguard for 3 years, but then I finally quit this year :D. Yay for having free time!

^ That’s the spirit! You be free, girl!

Class 3O.
Got 2nd at championships in 2010, but the band’s quality has been dwindling since then.

Pit Percussion.

Last competition this Saturday, and then USSBA championships next week, if another freak storm doesn’t hit CT, making it so we can’t go (like last year).

There are currently 5 of us. 2 are graduating. I’m not doing it next year, and I’m the only person they would make section leader. The 4th person isn’t doing pit if I don’t do it. The 5th person has no concept of rhythm, and wants to go to drumline.

So we won’t have a pit next year, most likely. Hopefully there are a lot of incoming freshman willing to do it.

Female trombonist in this corner.

Large, successful BOA band here. We’re headed to BOA Atlanta tomorrow and to Grand Nationals in two weeks.

Ha, my band sucks. We’re from Washington though, so no surprises there. I’m fairly jealous of those of you with competitive bands. And by fairly jealous, I mean you all suck. My band won our division, including guard and percussion, so that was nice. First time in 5 years, which (surprise!) was the same length of time our old director was here.

That said, march corps. Cause it’s awesome. I’ve marched 2 years so far, no plans to stop till I age out. Watching the Super Bowl last year was awesome because I got to say “hey! I’m marching there!”
