Why is it such a big deal for you people to pay $8??? You have spent at least $8 worth of headache and worrying time trying to figure out why you haven't got them yet. What is the ratio of $8/20,000 cost of 1 year of college.

We called on July 3, got all 4 scores, and were done with it.

Sorry if I sounded harsh Unvelievablem. Just found out some high schools don't pay for them. Ours did: if you took an AP class, the school paid for the test.

namtrag, I don't like paying for something that should be free! It's the principle of the thing.... just don't ask me to articulate the principle. It's a little imaginary contest between college board and me. They are teasing me. Every day they say, "For $8 you can have the score. Do you want it?" and every day I reply, "No thanks, I can wait," and they come back with "Are you sure? Don't you want to know how he did?" and I say, "The score should be here any day... I can wait."

It's sort of like that. Surely you remember back in.... kindegarten... when you used to play games like that? NOTHING TODAY IN NJ, those bastiches!!!!! or should I say, those dirty rotten scoundrels!!! (Going to see it next week)

I get that way sometimes, but this time, I caved. My kids wanted their scores so badly. The funny thing is, we got hard copy scores in Chesapeake, VA by mail earlier this week.

NJres,
I totally agree, except that I don't think of the scores as free, I already paid for those scores and I find it distasteful that the CB want me to pay again!

Like, I said, I didn't know you had to pay for the AP tests, our (public) school board paid.

It says right on the website they will release the scores by mid-July. It is just now mid-July, so this thread should really not even exist yet.

Because WE paid for the AP tests which include a score report<<

As one who also paid for the test, I'm not so sure this is valid (and I'm prepared to be flamed for this). I'm no fan of the College Board, and there are many things they deserve to get hit for, but this may not be one of them.

When I buy two books from Barnes & Noble.com, I get free shipping. That may take two weeks. But if I want the books sooner, I have to pay for express shipping. In both cases, I've paid for the books. To my mind, the fact that you can get your scores earlier by paying a bit more for "shipping" is no different. (And by the way, if you want your ACT scores two weeks earlier, you also pay $8. Or you can be patient and view them for free.)

Now, whether the scores should be posted on the CB website just as SAT scores are . . . well, that's another story.

S's scores came today! We have had to pay for many AP exams for our 3--it should include an online score report at no additional charge.

This thread would not exist if they didn't release the scores earlier for a fee--and if they sent all the hard copies out at the same time.

You do sound harsh, namtrag--you should just be grateful that you are not paying for all of those tests instead of criticizing people who are anxious to find out but don't want to have to pay the CB another penny.

I'm certainly NOT a fan of CB, but they do say scores will be mailed in mid July. What I do have a problem with, is why have some states received scores & others haven't. It's not like my scores aren't available - they were in the system on june 27. What crazy kind of mailing system are they using?

Even though I know my scores, my class schedule can't be changed without the score report from CB.

Could it be some weird combination of the grading not being done on certain subjects, meaning they can't mail everyone their scores at the same time? It has to be something like that, because my son got his scores in Va on Monday, and a lot of others in Va still haven't received theirs.

I don't think so - my D took only US History and I know those have been graded. Besides, if you could get the scores over the phone, that means they've been graded.

For me it is that I just don't understand why the scores online are not available online for free like the SATs. The SAT scores are available online for free a short amount of time before they are actually received in the mail.

The College Board has the AP scores electronically and have sent them off to the colleges electronically. The scores first became available for those who call in around June 27th. Why they can't just put them up online makes no sense.

When I took my 1st SAT II 3 years ago, scores weren't online, but were available for $ on the phone (I think it was more than $8). You're right - if an automated voice can tell you the scores, there's no reason they can't be online.

I wonder what lame excuse they'll have for the staggered mailing. Humidity?

Ah...but wouldn't you be annoyed if the person in front of you and the person behind you ordered the SAME books and didn't pay the express shipping...and they got their books in two weeks, but YOU had to pay extra to get your books?

My only issue with the delay here is that my kid's college has NOT received the scores electronically....yet. Neither has her high school. AND we, of course, have not received the scores in the mail. Luckily, her registration/orientation is later in the summer (we certainly HOPE she has the scores by then). These AP scores have the potential to have classes waived (with credit given). Of course, the phone score doesn't really do us much good either...another reason I won't pay to hear the scores. But, as noted here...the scores by phone were available at the end of June. Are they using the Pony Express to send these scores? And wouldn't it be easier to just do it online for everyone (including the students). At this point, I just hope they haven't lost DD's AP tests/scores (her Oct SAT score was MIA for 6 weeks...never was posted online...finally came in the mail).

My S's and D's AP reports are dated June 25 and we received both early this week. The seemingly rolling and random receipt of AP scores across the country and beyond does not project a professional image for the CB indeed. If the action is miscontrued as financially driven (for the $8 per call), then the damage is even more dire.
