I've looked at virtual tours of dorm rooms at a few colleges and haven't seen books. Where are they? The bookshelves seem to have only microwaves or computer printers.

Are they real rooms or ones done up for demonstration and filming? The books are there. depending on the student and course work they may not have very many and they may be in a backpack or desk. DD's bookcases have all her music on them, her books tend to be scattered.

My D's would be on her desk or in her backpack...she doesn't have alot of additional books besides her textbooks - just a couple...she does have a file thingy with some of her past papers, etc. for future reference

I have noticed when we toured, that a lot of students keep their books in their closet floor in a crate.

Ds freshman room had a small bookshelf- it was just the right size to put on top of her trunk and bring level with her desk for her printer.
She also brought a small bookshelf that was handy for extra storage- but I don't think she had a chance to do any pleasure reading .

BTW which USNEWS guide had the profile of Reed College? I can't remember and I tossed it- ( I think it might have been 2006)
They showed a pic of one of the RAs ( who was actually Ds best friend) and he has books all over the place. ( or was it just * stuff* all over the place? )
