Has the Chinese government blocked out CC as well? To my memory, I haven’t seen any Chinese posters from their home country…it’s a pity because I’ve heard they’re highly qualified and the Chinese bracket is one of the most competitive

While we’re at it: how many Chinese apply / get into Penn?

Actually Chinese ppl who come straight from China has many hurdles. Most have crazy stats but the system is totally different in China. China is more test based while in the U.S. ECs count as well. Also not many in China can actually pay the tuition so competition will be very fierce for aid.

Most Chinese who apply has lived in the U.S. for some time and their parents work here.

i was so excited to get my greencard a few weeks ago, after applying for 6 years! i faxed my EA school and hope they change my applicant pool in time - being an Intl is insanely competitive.

i have friends who attend international school in shanghai. they are not allowed to apply to schools like george washington because its in DC... (sensitive location).

anyway, i told them about this site and they have no problem logging on.

my race = chinese but hm.. im not from China... my grandma was..
hm.. i know of many PRCs (that's what we call the scholars from China) applying to US schs... they are very crazy with their application.. almost every one of them's applying.. and some applied to 10 schs (not really the norm here... to expensive.. we usually keep to 2-6 schs)
i noe of a no. of them who applied/intend to apply to Penn.. but yea.. they are jus not on CC, perhaps

oh btw... yes, they are a very competitive batch of pple.. esp considering the no. of pple China has (some has got to be really brilliant ya?) i remembered that the 4 scholars in my previous class hogged the top 4 positions.. but they really slogged for it. during our post exam class sessions, they'd be reading some english bk, with a dictionary beside them. at the beginning of the yr, this gal opened the biology txtbk, and had to depend very much on the dictionary to understand the txt. half a yr later, she had already topped the level in biology. mad ya?
but, really, it depends on how hardworking they are. At my pre-U college, I have seen these China scholars dipped terribly in their results.. in fact, this China guy in my class was almost retained..
so ya.. China pple can be really competitive due to their diligence.
