I am a prefrosh and i'm interested in exploring Cal. So i'm looking over some courses at Cal through webcast. Does anyone know if there are lecture notes online as well?

It depends on the instructor. Some instructors do not post notes while others do.

For example, the Chem 1A professors for Fall 2006 posted their notes on their website: http://chem1a.berkeley.edu/~mkubinec/

Also, a note-taking service called Black Lightning is available if enough students request it. Basically, if enough students request it, then Black Lightning will ask the professor if it can have someone (a student who have taken the course before and have done well) take notes during lectures. If the professor says yes, then the person will take the notes and send it out to those who request them. This, of course, isn't free, but you can always pool together and split the price since the notes is sent through emails.

Whoa hold on there. Sharing those notes is illegal. Yes, illegal. But not only that, if people share notes and Black Lightning doesn't make enough money, the notes for the class will be cancelled so don't share your notes!

quickflood. You can always get notes from friends, there will always be somebody in class, you don't need to buy them. If you want some sample lecture notes from Hist 7B, Pol Sci 2, Geo 20, Classics 28 or 10a, i'd be happy to let you look at a few. Just let me know

GO BEARS!

Thanks everyone, I found some notes on the course websites. I'll be visiting next week anyway, so i'll probably attend a class.

too bad, i probably can't check out the history class due to schedule conflict with the regent interview. I have it around 11 on Wednesday.
