where are the international students from? I didn't find such information about students' geological statistic.

Hello! International students are from all over. As one myself (London is home), and after working for the International Pre-Orientation last year (where International kids come a few days before school starts and get to know each other), I met people from Germany, France, Hong Kong, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil…everywhere and anywhere.

@larayilmaz: Have you met anyone from Tunisia ?

I am from Nepal and I have applied to UChicago for RD round. UChicago will accept student from any country given that he/she is academically competitive and more importantly, intellectual in one way or the other…

Having said that, I wish I got in. I absolutely love this college and I love the supplement essays. Beautiful questions-they make you want to write creatively.

I have a sort of vague, subjective sense that the University of Chicago is especially popular in Singapore and Korea, and that those countries provide a somewhat higher percentage of international students than one would otherwise expect.

These are the countries that are well-represented at the University: Singapore, India, China (many of whom hail from Hong Kong), Turkey, Korea, Pakistan and Brazil. I have met students from the UK, France, Denmark, the Caribbean, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Bahrain, Taiwan, Mexico, Venezuela, Japan, and Peru. There are a few from Africa as well.

I actually agree with JHS’s subjective sense…

Also, @molectron, I’ve met someone from Tunisia. Well, born there… doesn’t live there anymore.

Thanks cookcfc :)

Has anyone met Mongolian yet? :P

So many Singaporeans.

@jonjojonjo: No, but there’s a Mongolian grill in Pierce Dining Hall that’s quite scrumptious.
