Where are YOU applying?

Post the schools you're applying to and your stats.

I'll go first.

Andover (MA), St. Paul's (NH), Exeter (NH), Deerfield (MA), Cate (CA), Stevenson (CA), Greenhills (Ann Arbor, day student), Ashbury (Ottawa, CA, day student) and another New England school that has a pretty high acceptance rate.

I'm thinking of replacing Deerfield with Choate, or just not applying to either. Deerfield is just too far away from a decent sized city for my taste.

I'd appreciate any suggestions on what I should do.

Stats:

School: Average public school in southeastern Michigan. Like.. no one goes onto boarding school.

Grades: All A's/4.0

EC's: Soccer for nine years, competitive swimming, just getting into tennis, four years of alto saxophone, self studying Modern Greek and Spanish, job at my mother's daycare that she owns (will this matter), one of four students selected out of 20 to go to Japan for two weeks, strong interest and passion for learning about different cultures, countries, languages, etc. Spelling Bee Participant (Grades 5 and 7), Geography Bee Participant - Second place school-wide. (Grade 7) Quiz Bowl Team Member, Knowledge Master Open (Fall '05, Spring '06) The entire grade took a test and the top four scoring students were selected. (About 120 students took the test). I have not taken the SSAT yet. After looking at the review book, some of it seems pretty hard. I haven't taken the practice tests yet, but I expect to get around an 85%.

Here are some New England schools that you might take a look at: Kent School, Westminster, Brooks, Gov. Dummer (I think it just changed its name), St. Mark's School, and Tabor Academy (lovely area on the water). If you decide to extend your search to the northeast, take a look at Hill, Blair and Mercersburg. I have only seen Westminster (close to a town) and Blair (next to a small town and somewhat close to NYC and Philadelphia), but I've heard good things about all the others through friends and acquaintances. Try to get the most recent acceptance rates. I don't know how to get the most current acceptance rates (other than to call the school), but Pertersons.com is more up to date than Boardingschoolreview (which is generally several years old). If possible, try to visit more schools than you might apply to. After you have seen a few, you will be able to set more priorities, like the school size and dress code you prefer. Good luck and welcome back!

Gov. Dummer is now "The Govenors Academy".

Thank you. :)

many of the schools will post their acceptance rate from the previous year on their websites.
