Where are you applying?

MIT EA
Rice
CalTech EA
Cornell
RPI

Hopefully I get into one of the above…otherwise I may just get a sadface.

Early Action Yale

NYU
Harvard
Princeton
Columbia
Stony Brook
Binghamton University

My list is so small!

Oh, and Macaulay Honors @ CUNY.

In order of desire:

University of Chicago

Princeton University

Johns Hopkins

UVA

William and Mary

University of Maryland - College Park

Villanova University

If I can, I want to apply EA to at least the first three. If I get into Chicago, then I’m done. That school rocks, I just got back from a visit there, and I admit, I was blow away.

ED: williams college

Regular: wellesley, johns hopkins, bowdoin, bates, geneseo, maybe princeton, maybe haverford, maybe middlebury

I’ve got to add NYU… though the cost would certainly be a challenge.

in no particular order…

Georgetown
Colorado College
Kenyon
University of Vermont
Whitman
Boston College
Regis
Dartmouth
Geneseo
Denison

which is a lot ill have to narrow it down.

how much are people looking at for app fee’s? this list would run around $420! thats including $60 to send scores $10 each after the first 4. Im scared to tell my dad how much all the apps are going to cost. do your parents care or have some kind of limit?

MIT
Carnegie Mellon! <- ED
CalTech
Georgia Tech
Cornell
Brown
Dartmouth
Columbia
NYU Engineering
Stanford
UPenn

also as a side note i think its funny how most people on this thread are all applying to pretty much the same schools… the ivys and thereabouts. thats awesome for the people who can do it. more power to you! if anyones willing to trade transcripts hit me up! but… i was kind of hoping for a more diverse list, to see whose pairing what schools with what. also i think its funny that people feel obligated to note that when theyre applying to schools that arent among the top in the country its because they are safety’s and they have to. Theres nothing wrong with that! in fact i actually find those a lot more interesting than yale, harvard, princton, mit…

My app fees are waived for Carleton and Macalester (if anyone’s planning to apply to these, submit Part 1 now! It’s just your name and address and stuff and it’ll save you 50 bucks). I think the rest of my fees total to about $315, plus $70 for sending SAT scores. I think it’s worth it even if I do get into my top choice ED.

These schools make me feel dumb…

Schools That I’m Applying to:
Early Decision: American University

Regular Decision: (Financial Back-Ups and what-not)
Wofford
Newberry
Converse
Appalachian State University
Tulane
Drew
Fordham
USC-Columbia
CofC
Bryn Mawr

This list probably will change though… I’m applying to a couple because it doesn’t cost me anything. (Tulane, Wofford, Newberry) and App-State/USC for legacy status… though I don’t think either of those schools consider that. lol

Listing in increasing likelihood of being accepted (I’m from Ohio)

Ohio State
University of Dayton
New York University
Boston College
UNC Chapel Hill

I’m adding a few more but I want to get some more between ‘Reach’ and ‘Safety’.

Vanderbilt
UGA
UF
Georgia Southern

And God forbid…

Armstrong-Atlantic State university
Valdosta State :frowning:
Albany State :(

ED to NYU

I’m also aplying to lots of other schools just in case:
Columbia
Boston University
Pratt Institute
Emerson College
Syracuse University
Northeastern
Cornell
Florida State
Yale
Rochester Institute of Technology

I know I have very very low chances at Yale and Columbia with my 2040 SAT, but i’m applying anyway, you know, just in case. Maybe the admissions’ officer reads my app in a very good day?

EA: UChicago

Reach
Columbia
UPenn
Harvard

Match
Johns Hopkins (legacy-grandfather who gives a lot of money)
UVA (IS)
William and Mary (IS)
Rice (legacy-great-grandfather is legendary football coach)
Brandeis (double legacy)
WashingtonStl
Swathmore
Williams
U Rochester

Safety
JMU
Rutgers/VCU

I need to take a couple schools off my list, can anyone suggest a school with terrible aid or is a waste of an application (except Harvard, which I will apply to no matter how slim the odds)

I’m just your classic guy low GPA/ High SAT (to the tune of 3.6/2320)

Unless that 3.6 is weighted, it isn’t low. Class rank is more important than absolute GPA, since schools really vary in how they grade. Congrats on the strong SAT scores.

I’m pretty sure williams and swarthmore both meet full need base aid aid… and not with loans with grants and a work study. In fact i think the average debt of williams is like 9,000 something which is great although idk if that is skewed by people who go and their families can pay for the whole thing. Either way theyre both on the list of top 51 college for financial aid so can’t really kicked those two off based on that. Syracuse on the other hand I’ve heard is pretty expensive. I live near there and a lot of kids from my area go and talk about it being expensive but thats entirely based on a couple conversations i havent actually looked into it… plus with your sats youll probably get pretty good merit wherever you go that offers it.

Revision

Early Action: MIT, Carnegie Mellon, Caltech
Early Decision: Maybe Columbia. I am a legacy and would be applying for the Engineering school.

Reach:
Brown
University of Pennsylvania
HYPS

Match:
University of Rochester
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Georgia Institute of Technology

Safety:
Northeastern
Rochester Institute of Technology
New Jersey Institute of Technology
Rutgers

I’m definitely applying to:

Colorado School of Mines
Cornell University
Iowa State University
Northwestern University
University of Minnesota
University of Tulsa

I’d personally like to add UBC or Udub, Washington State, and Boise State or U Utah. My parents would like me to add WUSTL, U Rochester, or Rice. Perhaps we will meet in the middle.

Brown
University of Chicago
University of Pennsylvania
UCLA
New York University
University of Virginia
Carnegie Mellon
University of Michigan

Rutgers (Safety)
TCNJ (Safety)

For laughs:
Harvard University (b/c of my Asian mother)

I don’t see the point of applying to Harvard if I have no intentions of going there. Considering how stubborn I am, I probably won’t apply.
