Someone know which are the statistics at MIT to get in as international undergraduate student ?

^ What do you mean by “statistics to get in”??? Okay, they are GPA of 100/100, ranking of 1/1000, SAT of 2400, hundreds of intel awards, etc
I think you’ve already known that there is no fixed criterion, especially to MIT (except for TOEFL, they require the score of above 90). Well that reminds me of some words of k4r3n2 in the other thread, “trust the admissions committee, and we will both make the right decision” (correct me if I’m wrong :)), which I really like.

Greetings from Hong Kong!

From Thailand! :)

MM…on MIT website there are some statistics about SAT scores and GPA. But i think that they are for citizens. I suppose that for international undergraduate student there are other criteria. Just the 3% of international applicants is admitted. I think that the scores average is lower than american students. If english isn’t your mother tongue it’s difficult to get 2400 at SAT and 110 at TOEFL, isn’t it?

@edoardo: I personally got a 110 at TOEFL, and English isn’t my mother tongue.

@edoardo: Oh sorry for misunderstanding you. I guess you want to ask about the admissions statistics of international students at MIT, am I right? But sorry again, I don’t know anything about this.
I think the score average varies among the tests. For example, while SAT average score of critical reading section might be lower, since it’s a huge disadvantage to most international students, that of the math section and the SAT II average score might be greater. But I haven’t find out if there is any official criterion except for the TOEFL score. I know a person who got ~1800 in SAT and is now at MIT.

I know one too <- should be a different one from the one 12npm12 mentions. But this guy is a double IMO medalist and a 4-time IMO qualifier.

Anyway, this is a competitive pool for sure :S

So this guy has a lot of hooks
But the guy I mentioned has only one hook, a gold IMO medal (I guess) :D

I have only a small and poor hook. =(

Haha, you are talking about both of us
Anyway you still have time, so not really “both of us”, because I’m more “pathetic”
But as far as I know, out of 7 students from my country who got in MIT last year, there are only 2 who are Int’l Science Olympiad medalists.

Thanks, i think that in my case, i must do a course about TOEFL to get 110. In high school we study english but it isn’t enough. But i have time, i am in the third year of my high school and i’m 16.

Well I think everyone all has to face that. TOEFL is a basic requirement to int’l students: without the competence in English, one will get drown at MIT. In my country, we have 7 years of studying English before going to college and many students can only say “hello” after graduating. And extra English classes are really expensive. But there are still people who don’t have good conditions, yet eventually are good at English :)

@12npm12: were you joking when you said : “gold IMO medal” ?

@edoardo: I think he mean it real… He has some sort of similar things.

Canada!
I’m in Toronto and it’s FREEZING here.

But actually, I’m applying for MIT 2015 xD

As an international student, my SAT Reading and Writing sections are not so good, but my TOEFL is 111. Personally, the SAT is just too long for me. I think I didn’t score well because I’m a perfectionist; I basically answered all the questions on the SAT and probably got a lot of deduction in some sections. My friends who omitted tons of questions ended up getting 2100+. Sometimes being a perfectionist can hurt you a lot on the SAT.

@edoardo: No. I “:D” and said “I guess” because the only hook I know about him is the medal :)
