I’m really looking for a smaller, tight-knit campus with close relationships with profs and other faculty (my school has about 25000 undergrads so it’s a little troublesome). I know that all three schools are a HUGE reach for me but I’m just taking my chances. I really like the flexibility of their curriculums, I’m finding my school to be a little rigid in that regard.
On a personal note, I’m commuting from home so if I get into any of these schools (which would be an absolute dream), I’m looking forward to living on campus. There are so many commuter students, it feels more like a job, there’s no community here.
OK BYE :)

I’m transferring spring 2014.

Got into GWU elliot school of International affairs- will most likely go there (put deposit down). I actually applied for freshman year but didn’t get in…

Waiting to hear from NYU- applied for the global public health program there.

Currently at a small mid atlantic/north eastern liberal arts college

Going to be incoming sophomore transfer for fall 2014.
High School GPA: 3.7 haha I think… grading scale super hard and sort of obscure…
SAT: 2200
College GPA: 3.9
E.C’s: Literary magazine editor at current university, various clubs that have to do w/major, tennis, s.b., compete with and have played piano for 14 yrs., service in and outside the country-regularly done, pres. service award three yrs. in high school, NHS, music awards, athletic awards, creative writing awards, foreign language awards, personality awards (that sounds so vain I almost can’t stand it, so sorry, but true)… and all the rest of that jazz:)
Major: English/International Relations and French; Minor: Music performance.
Hooks: none inherently… certified social advocate, seriously passionate about a turn back to classical culture… season symphony ticket holder, no generic social media affiliations, planning on going onto professional school, top 10% graduating class, lived alone outside the U.S for a year in non english speaking country, (planning on doing that again for a time).
@: a university I never thought I’d be attending!-not in a positive way…(financial uncertainty)
Transfer to: now that all’s back on track, I’m reapplying to Barnard, which is really where I’ve had my heart set on for, um, ever.
Vassar.
Bryn Mawr
Wellesley
Plus, I’m super close with a good number of my professors at current school, and hopefully good recs. will be sent my way, or at least Barnard’s…

Any hope???:)

I’m looking to transfer from Saint Joseph’s University to Villanova University. I am currently a freshman. I’m looking to apply in the late winter/early spring for the Fall of 2014.

My High School GPA:3.8
College GPA (For first semester): 3.2
Major: History with a Minor in Secondary Education.

What are my chances of getting into Villanova?
(+ my mom went there)
(+ My grandfather is a professor there)

Hey guys! I’m currently at community college and I’ll be transferring in as a junior for fall 2014.

Highschool GPA: 3.4 weighted, I have no idea what it was unweighted. I had a lot of personal problems during high school: I had a death in the family during my freshman year, and my parents began a messy divorce battle. These events exacerbated my struggles with depression, which seriously affected my academic performance. However, I’ve made a complete turnaround in college. I focused my common app essay on overcoming those struggles, and made it clear that I’ve put them behind me. I’m hoping that the adcoms will be able to focus on my current strengths and successes instead of my past weaknesses.

SAT: 1700 (retaking this month and aiming for 1900+)

College GPA: 3.8. The only Bs I have received were in math and science. I took physics and computer programming, and while I could’ve taken easier courses, I failed math in HS and wanted to demonstrate improvement. I’m in the honors program and Phi Theta Kappa. I’ve also received several scholarships and awards from my community college.

Major: Currently Liberal Arts, hoping to major in English and Art History.
Hooks: URM (Caribbean American), first generation, passionate about activism and social justice. I’m hoping that my status as a CC student will be a hook as well. I visited Brown and Amherst and both transfer directors told me that CC students are the “hot new group” that some elite schools are hoping to attract.

EC: I’ve worked since I was fourteen. I’m a student aide and I’ve also worked as a pharmacy technician and receptionist at a law office. I hold several leadership positions as well. I completed a year-long internship with the NYPIRG, and I’m a Project Leader for my campus chapter. Last year, I was elected to be a delegate for my college on the organization’s Board of Directors. I’m VP of my school’s Women’s Student Association, and will likely become President in the spring. I conducted a sexual harassment survey last semester and I’ll be sitting on the sexual harassment committee in the spring. I’ve been an orientation leader for almost two years, and I was Treasurer of the SGA Programming Board. I also volunteer at Planned Parenthood.

Schools I’m looking to apply to: Barnard is my first choice. I’m also applying to Brown, Smith, Vassar, Wesleyan, and Sarah Lawrence. I’ve applied to Lang and a couple of CUNYs and SUNYs as safeties.

My high school grades and SAT scores aren’t the best, but I’m hoping that my accomplishments in college will balance things out. I’m a strong writer and know that I’ll have great recs, so I’m hoping that everything will work in my favor. Anyone care to chance me?

HS GPA (2008): 2.34
College GPA :4.0
Current College: Community College
Major: Liberal Arts (declaring communications, film studies, or the like)
Hooks: Convicted felon (drug possession 2010)
EC: Student Government Association, Spanish Club, Black Student Union, member of County Emergency Response Team (CERT), volunteer hours at homeless children’s shelter (Covenant House), Tutor, various part time and full time jobs over the years

Highschool GPA: 3.3ish unweighted
College GPA: 3.75
Current College: Middle-tier SUNY (Albany, Buffalo, New Paltz)
Major: Pre-finance transferring to be economics/public policy/individualized program
Hooks: I wouldn’t say I have any that I know of.
