where are your parents staying?

Just wondering ? ... the hotels are pretty pricey in the boston area...

They're staying at home.
bwahaha.

I read the thread title and I opened it to type that response...but you jacked it. Thanks a LOT.

Sorry to reply so late. You might want to look at this thread about hotels in Boston. And yes, they are pricey.

Wait a second, so when I visit MIT again this summer like in July or August, MIT will not provide me any free place to stay? I understand that my parents have to live in hotel, but how about me (admitted student)? Is there a place in campus I can live overnight for free?

There is no on-campus housing for admitted students over the summer, that's correct. The MIT Admissions website says this about overnight visits:
[quote]
Overnights in March and April are only for students who have been admitted. We encourage all admitted students to visit during our annual Campus Preview Weekend in the spring. Overnight visits are not available from May through September.

If you know or can get in touch with someone who's a current student staying on campus over the summer, you can probably arrange informally to stay with them, but there is no official place for you to stay while you're visiting over the summer, except in a hotel.

thanks! do they have campus tour during july or august? my parents really want to come with me this time to see the campus; whom should i contact? or do i just walk in the campus and ask for free tour?

There are campus tours and info sessions all year. Just check the website for times throughout the year (there's a handy calendar on the website) and check in at the Admissions office when you arrive.
