Where can I find more official lit subject tests?

Mediocre unofficial literature practice tests are starting to bug me, but I don't want to use my purple book test until a few days before my test date. Are there any other official practice tests available online (preferably for free)?

hi!! i too have been looking for the same and unfortunately did not find anything at all…just some reviews n tips…but i feel you could:-

  1. practice the test on the collegeboard website
  2. or visit this link :- http://www.xtremepapers.com/papers/SAT/SAT%20II%20Success%20Literature.pdf</a>
the second one is a complete book altogether with 6 practice tests( 5 practice + 1diagonostic)…along with a couple of drills…

i think this is the maximum we can hope for!!

Thanks. I had seen the practice test link you posted before but it looked a little heavy on lit terms so I was holding out for something offiicial. I guess the kids dumb enough to sign up for literature in the first place will have to make do with the slim pickings available. Good luck on the 3rd if that’s your test date.

Yea I too am scheduled for 3rd November and I really feel stupid for signing up for literature.u r right about the book in the link! I tried the test papers and could barely get anything right! On the contrary the practice test on the collegeboard website seemed like a cake walk! Did u try that?

All the best to you too!

P.S.- r u using the Kaplan guide? How is it overall?

Hey, I’m not aware of any official SAT Lit tests out there other than the one in the Blue Book. However, the official AP Lit Multiple Choice questions are quite similar to the SAT Lit ones, so those are worth a try.

[url=<a href=“Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board”>AP English Literature and Composition Course – AP Central | College Board]AP Central - AP English Literature and Composition Course Home Page/url.

In my personal experience, if you do well on these you will also do well on SAT Lit.

Thanks for the AP lit books recommendation. I was thinking about using them but there is no poetry in the AP test and poetry tends to be my cryptonite. Ill probably check one out of the library for overkill on the passage based q’s. As far as the books I use: Barron’s for review and PR for practice tests. Unfortunately the PR has a few ambiguous (IMO) questions and a few answer typos so I never get above a 700.

Oh and I did do the collegeboard.com practice and got like 2 off or something. I don’t think it is that accurate though b/c I know a couple kids that got everything right on that but only got around 600s. For comparison their SAT CR scores were also 600s and mine was an 800 so it seems like a pretty bad predictor. I’m taking the blue book official test tommorow and ill post if I did better or worse than on the practice questions.

Got 53/61 on official blue book test, worth a 740. I can say that I felt much more comfortable with the answer choices than those of my unofficial tests. I habitually cross off answers, and the correct answers to the questions I got wrong were always one of the two that I could not cross off. On my other practice tests, the answers were usually ones that I had crossed off right away, and they often still didn’t make sense to me after re-reading carefully. To put it simply, there were no ambiguous answer choices on the official test, a sharp contrast with most unofficial tests. If anyone reading this is worried about their practice tests scores, I think this shows that your real test scores will probably be higher than scores from PR, Barron, or most others (though I have heard good things about Kaplan’s accuracy in this subject).

I’m positive there’s poetry on AP Lit, so I’m not sure what you’re referring to?

And I find it strange that kids can get none wrong on AP Lit multiple choice and get 600s in SAT Lit/CR. That doesn’t seem to make much sense.

Anyway, congrats on the 740. I hope that’s what you’re looking for.

You’re right I was thinking of AP Lang. I meant that they got a perfect scores on the collegeboard.com practice questions…

Were you able to complete the tests within the time limit?

I timed myself but didn’t set an alarm so that I could focus on mastering the skills and “my process” so to speak. I finished w/ four minutes left however. I usually work much faster in real test situations so I’m not worried.

I actually found the Success tests to be pretty accurate. I always score a little higher in exam conditions than at home, and this reflected that pretty well (high 600s on the practice, 740 in October).

Did you think that the Success tests used more literal term review than the real test? I guess I’ll give success tests another shot, but when I first looked at it the questioned were too lit-vocab concentrated.

@ amohield :- I am soo glad that you said that!!! I actually sat down to complete each and every drill and practice test in the SAT2 Success and definitely performed much better on it than on PR (though i did everything on that too)…and woah…my exam is day after!!! True its heavy on lit terms and a couple of passages are as long as two to three pages…but its definitely worth a shot Kstrida!!..

Fingers crossed for 3rd nov. !!! :X :)
