Where can I get a scholarship?

I have 1470 on SAT, 800s on Math level 2 and Physics a 5 each on AP Phisics 2, Physics C mechanics and Calculus BC. I am expecting around 85% in CBSE class 12. Have built a quad- copter searching and gps tagging project and have done a lot of social work even before I decided to apply to american unis. I am planning on majoring in Aerospace engg. Where do you think I can get a decent scholarship considering that I am a middle- class Indian?

I’m not sure if the requirements are the same for international students, but you might qualify for a full tuition scholarship at UAH. It requires at least a 3.5 GPA and 1390 SAT.

Are you an intl?

How much will your family pay?

What is your GPA ?

Will you be applying for Aerospace jobs in India?
The US schools will educate you, but there is no guarantee that you will be employed in that field in the US. If you come to the US for your education, you will be expected to return to your country after you graduate.

Immigration rules are strict. Depending on the employer, a number of aerospace engineering firms are funded by US government contracts which usually require a security clearance. As a non-US citizen you won’t be eligible.
If your plan was to immigrate, that’s probably not going to happen.

I plan to work for myself… not another firm. Probably in India because home is home and the rest is “not home”. I want to use what I learn to change India… USA probably doesn’t need me its already doing well while India struggles to manage problems like illiteracy, energy deficits and many others whatever little talent I have could still be significant here.

My family might be able to pay around 90k usd at the most without going bankrupt. There is no GPA in India but percentage scores. I am expecting 85%ish in grade 12

Many of the private STEM schools have merit aid. Embry-Riddle, Florida Tech, Illinois Tech, Rose-Hillman. They are going to be expensive and you aren’t eligible for federal aid or loans. Some of the private or government scholarships require citizenship or legal resident status.

Is this problem Aerospace specific? My friends had little problem with CS and Mechanical…

The employers requiring citizenship because of government contracts? Not specific to aerospace, but more common because the of the government contracts. My daughter is in civil and many of the employers she interviewed with have government contracts because of roads and bridges.

While you are in school, your internship opportunities may be more limited, but since you are planning to go back to India for your career, it may not matter that much.
