Where can I get an internship??

I'm a junior in high school and hope to be a corporate lawyer. I'm looking for an internship.

I initially had a great internship, it was with the district office of my local congressman. I called them and sent in my resume, and they later called me for an interview a few days ago. The woman interviewing me said they normally want college students but I sounded mature and she liked my resume, so she callled me for interview. She also said she had a good impression of me and she just had to check with her supervisor, but I should get the internship. She later called me and said that I could come in next week for the first day, but then called an hour or so later and said that although everyone was impressed with my resume, I have good interview skills, etc., the supervisor wants at least high school seniors. So, I did not get that but she encouraged me to apply again next year.

I'm trying to now find someplace else to intern. I've called some law firms, at most the attornies were not available so I left a message. I also called a local law school, the woman took my name and number so she could ask the dean if he could find some info. for me and she said she would be in touch this week. As for the local law library, they said they really want someone at least 16 (I haven't turned 16 yet even though I'm a junior) but maybe once I'm 16, I could even get a paid job, so that sounds interesting!

I really wanted something I could do now because I don't have much planned this summer. Next year, I'll be an entering senior, so I'll be planning for college, etc, not to mention I'm hoping to get into a summer program.

Soo, (sorry this is so long!!), does anyone have suggestions for other law-related places I could try getting an internship at? Or any other place really that I could intern? Something related to government (such as similar to the congressman's office) would be cool because I find government interesting, as well as something related to business, since I will be a corporate (business) lawyer? Or even some charities or non-profit organizations? I do volunteer work, and am in clubs to prevent drug/alcohol abuse and am interested in things to help the environment, so maybe anything related to that?

Thanks!

Volunteer for organizations, especially local ones. Where are you from? Try volunteermatch.org to find organizations looking for volunteers, and maybe ask them if they’d have anything for you for the entire summer. I know here in NC, “Toxic Free NC” asked our Key Club for volunteer (long-term) representatives (at events like the State Fair or museum events). Maybe something like that?
