Hi,

I'm really lost regarding what schools I actually have a shot of getting into.. also, I have no idea what a "safety" school is, percentage wise. I'd love to go to Brown, but don't know if that's completely delusional. Can anyone help?

I'm an international student (live in Venezuela)
I'm an IB candidate. I take four higher level classes and have all a's except for a b+ in chem)
my school doesn't rank but i'd be top 10% definitely
I do tons of extra curriculars (NHS, editor of newspaper, president of largest service club, MUN, etc)
I got a 2160 on my may SAT but think I can improve it if I study (math 680, w 710, rc 770)

Thanks!

Your stats are “in the ballpark” for admissions to Brown. What’s more important are the subjective factors: Extracurriculars, teacher recs, and essays. No one here on this board can truly judge your performance in those areas, since we don’t know you nor your high school circumstances.

Do note that Brown is not need-blind for international candidates. So if you’re applying for aid, beware–it is harder to get in

thanks!

I’m not applying for aid, so thankfully that won’t be a problem.

I really like writing so I think my essays will be good. I have great relationships with my teachers so that doesn’t sound like a problem.

As for safeties, should I be looking at schools with over 50%?
