I am currently in a MAT---master of arts & teaching---program and I am trying to get certified to teach high school math and science.

I have an undergrad degree in biochemistry that covers my science hours. However I need 8 math courses. 4 of these I have found I can take through LSU's distant learning program and they are at an affordable price. However the other 4 (2 of geometry, 1 of discrete math, and 1 of my choosing at a jr or sr level) I cannot take through LSU.

Does anyone know of a distant learning and/or online place that I can get these 4 courses??? Thanks in advance!

What about the regular math courses at the university you are currently studying at? If it is possible to major in math there, it should have the needed courses.

I am in an online program, with some live meetings (I’m about 2 hours from the school). It is a program designed to help people with bachelor degrees and working outside of the school system to get their teaching certification.

However…even through the school I am…they do not offer geometry classes except for one graduate level…and they do not offer discrete math. Very strange I know, but its true.

Discrete math is sometimes offered in the computer science department.

But it does seem odd that it would have required courses that are not offered, unless they are expecting only those who majored in math as undergraduates to get this particular certification.
