Where can I go to school??? I don't know what tier schools my stats fall into!

Hello, I really just have no idea what category I fit into. I don't know if I could get into UNC-Chapel Hill, U Mich, USC (My top tier 1 choices), and I might be able to get into Wisconsin-Madison, U of Miami-FL(My top 2nd tier choices), or schools like Ohio State, Iowa, Indiana, or Mizzou. I know my ACT score is low, but I am taking it again in April, so we'll see what happens. Here are my stats:

GPA: 5.2 on a 5 scale, because of honors classes. I also have no idea as to how to change it to UW's GPA.
ACT:27

Also , I have taken all 4 years of all the required subjects.

2 AP classes currently; AP US and AP lang and comp
3, possibly 4 next year; AP Government, AP Micro-Economics, AP Environmental Science, and AP Literature and Comp
honors spanish, english, and history all 4 years
honors science 3 years, and honors math freshman year (Got a B, so went down to regular).

Both the Peterson’s and College Board web site can do a good first cut. Go forth and reasearch - there are not shortcuts.

i think I know what school you’re from because I have a friend from Illinois that also goes to a school using that weird GPA system. (6.0 is an A for Honors/Weighted classes, correct?) and this same friend had only a slightly higher GPA than you and got into UNotre Dame, UNC-Chapel Hill, UMichigan, Pepperdine, U of Chicago, northwestern…etc.

Honestly, the sky is the limit if you have taken challenging courses, work well on E.C.'s, leadership, etc and write a stellar essay! I think most kids who have similar stats but don’t get into similar schools are most likely lacking in a lot of self-confidence.

To calculate unweighted GPA -
A = 4 points
B = 3 points
C = 2 points
D = 1 point
F = 0 points

Add points for all your classes, dividing by the total number of classes.

It would also help to have your class rank when asking “what are my chances”.

thanks everyone…toadstool…yeah i have a college board account and I still have no idea because like hope2getrice said people from my school get in to schools with a lot less than what the requirements say…so that’s confusing…and fireflyscout my school doesn’t do class rank anymore, and thanks for the gpa help…overall i just don’t want to waste time applying to schools where i don’t have a chance
