Where can i park at orientation?

Please. Thanks

Brazos garage. Get there early though! I got lucky when I got there at 9.30. I think I got the last spot.

Thank you! The only thing is that i have to leave my truck there until friday when i leave orientation. How much should that cost?

Isn’t it $10 for 1 day?

$10 a day shouldn’t be tooo bad

Yes, I payed $10 to park in SAG and I believe all lots/garages are the same. There might be cheaper third parties around campus, but I don’t believe any free parking is offered to orientation students.

Katatonic, if you want to park for free, there is the street on Nueces and 23 or 22nd streets where most people who live in the condos nearby park their cars.

Also, there is a small lot near the Castilian (where I stayed) in which you have to pay only 5 bucks for the whole day. And if you want any other free parking on the street, feel free to let me know.

xtra- Where could I get parking (for the year) that would be cheaper than Dobie/Castilians parking lot($1050)? I don’t want to move my car during baseball/football/basketball games, don’t want it to be too far away from the campus, and don’t want to worry about theft/vandalism. Thanks.

I have one garage in mind, but I doubt their price will be cheaper than what is offered for Dobie/ Castilian parking lot. It is by San Antonio Street and Martin Luther King Street intersection, but I think the parking runs about 700 per semester (I believe).
Another parking lot is at the corner of Red River street and Dean Keeton Street. That lot is in front of those crappy apartments (Red River Place is the apartment name I believe) and they had a sign with email address for information about parking there long term. If you park there, it would be the closest to the stadiums.
Where (approximately) do you live? Usually, the landlords give cheap parking to people who live in their condos. I know that Jeff 26 is giving out a parking space if you sign a lease with them (not that I recommend you for the complex)

But as for meeting your requirements, I do not believe I can meet all of those requirements in a parking lot.

and FYI, neither Dobie nor Castilian’s parking lot is safe. Despite both lots being garages, they are not very safe. There are homeless people camping at the back alleys of Dobie Center (near the Whitis Condominiums) and one asked me for money two weeks ago when I went into Dobie Center to eat.

Furthermore, when I was at the Castilian, I know at least one vandalism in cars per month. The vandalism situation was so prevalent that the Castilian management printed a sign out on the eleventh floor elevators warning people to lock their cars and secure valuables before leaving their car (and saying they are not responsible for damages in the garage). That Safelite windshield repair truck(advertised on TV) came to our complex at least once every two weeks.

Strange event happened in the Castilian. Austin Police taking someone away- while I was eating lunch in their Cafeteria. The property manager grabbed him by the shoulder and said to him “Excuse me sir, My name is *** and I am the property manager at the Castilian. Would you mind coming to my office for a talk?” and a female police officer accompanied the property manager. I don’t know if this event was related to the vandalism in the Castilian garage. Also, I know a classmate of mine in biology who got her MacBook stolen from her car when the car was parked near where she lived on West Campus

Thanks a lot xtra

Going to live at Dobie starting this fall and the garage is $1050 for the whole year. I heard about the break-ins, but with so many people having access to the garages… its bound to happen. I’ll probably end up in the Dobie garage with a car cover on or something. My car is just going to sit there unless I’m going to Houston or back home to Dallas for the weekends. I’ll check out that Red River Place though to see if they can cut me a deal. Thanks.

It is an open parking lot. You can see the parking lot on Google Maps. Not too many cars there usually. And the lot is not owned by Red River Place, but is on the corner close to there.

And Also, on craigslist today I saw San Gabriel Square apartments offering parking. Search San Gabriel Square on austin housing craigslist.
