I plan on driving to Austin for orientation and need to know where I can park. Anyone know?

The University suggests you park at Brazos Garage. They have people directing the way (assuming you are going for freshman orientation) from there.

thanks a lot!

Make sure you get a pass or something so you don’t end up paying hourly!!!

It was very organized last year - I was impressed! I would suggest getting there early, before it gets crazy, though.

MaineLonghorn- Are parents supposed to come with students? Both of my parents work those days, so I was just planning on going myself. I will be 17, not 18, at the time of orientation.

Hmm, my son wasn’t 18 yet, either, and it seems like I had to sign something for him. You might want to call and check if nobody here knows. Other than that, I just dropped him off and then headed to parents’ orientation. Parents’ orientation is totally optional. I just wanted to go on the campus tour to see what had changed since I attended.

They have a special rate for those parking there for 3 days (I think it’s $30 total) with unlimited in/out privileges. I think you sign up for that right after parking on the ground floor. I took my son and only stayed for the day and it was $12.

There were lots of kids without parents but I do think you need one to sign an affidavit.

Environmental,
If you’re under 18, your parent needs to be present to upgrade your UT EID:

You don’t need it to register (main point of orientation), but you’ll need to do it eventually.
