Where can I submit my written work?

I am a writer and would like to have a chance to win some awards and to get published. Would any of you know where I can send my work to? Thanks/

I am complying a list of my best work which I plan to submit.

anyone?
Like newspaper? Known Websites?

Have you ever considered entering pieces to the Scholastic Writing contest?

It's really prestigious and although you won't win any money for a Gold Key, an award from Scholastic is very valuable to have in the admissions process.

If you're aiming to publish your work in magazines, try Teen Ink magazine. Also, depending on what genre you focus in, there are plenty of magazines that will publish amateur writers (for example, if you had written a children's story, you might want to contact Stone Soup).

There are also tons (and I mean tons) of essay contests like the Ayn Rand essay contest and Coca-cola contest that have fairly hefty cash prizes even if they're not necessarily creative writing contests and they come with a theme and prerequisites (e.g. you must have read Anthem or the Fountainhead to participate in Ayn Rand).

However, if none of these are really your cup of tea, I would recommend Scholastic above all. Besides, the Internet is a great search tool and I'm pretty sure you could dig up plenty more opportunities to showcase your talent.

Best of luck!

Yeah, I entered teen ink already. I sent 20 pieces of work in.

The scholastic thing ended already.

There is a major newspaper editorial scholarship competition.

Either New York Times or Washington Post or something.

Try doing a fastweb search, you'll probably come up with a few competitions.

Try www.writing-world.com. There is a database of contests for writers.
