Where can I take AP Comp Sci online?

I'm a rising sophomore, and I'm looking for a way to take AP Computer Science online at a reasonable price during my sophomore year. I know self-studying is an option, but seeing as my programming background is minimal, I would prefer to take the actual class as well to make sure I really know the material, and my school doesn't offer it. Does anyone know where I could take the class online?

I wouldn’t recommend attempting to self-study APCS really. You can take the course at [Online High School | Online Middle School | Grades K-12 | Florida Virtual School](http://www.flvs.net) it’s free for Florida residents. If you’re out of Florida there’s a fee.

Keystone has a APCS course but it is $500.

I live in Florida but why does everyone always suggest FLVS?

^ because its free and a good website? lol

@Weeknd
Most people don’t live in Florida. So it’s not free for most people which is why I asked why it is suggested so often.

Not really a good idea taking it without any programming experience

Thank you for the suggestions, but I’m looking for something that is hopefully cheaper than $500, and I live in the northeast so FLVS wouldn’t be free for me.

And @1017bricksquad, that’s why I’m trying to find somewhere to take the class so that I can gain programming experience. :)

Bump! Does anyone know of any other places online I could take AP Comp Sci (preferably not for a lot of money)?

FLVS is just popular, move. Thank goodness I live in Florida. I might take APCS in line or AP Stats…or just self study Stats.

If you already have basic experience in another computational language I would suggest downloading an IDE like BlueJ or JCreator and familiarize yourself with Java syntax and GridWorld. APCS is pretty skill-based assuming you know the basics of Java so just practice writing programs.

At my school the teacher provides us with a website (eIMACS) which nobody really takes seriously but I don’t think it’s too bad provided that you do your work. Unfortunately I don’t know how much it costs so you’ll have to google that.

Silly question, but how does FLVS know you are in Florida?

You have to apply…derr. You can’t provide false information because the grades report to your school. It goes on your transcript. No ability to falsify anything. It’s legit. And there’s other stuff like your counselor has to approve it and give you some code and all this other stuff. I wish I had information from experience.
