Where can I transfer?

Hi, iI’m a student at Fordham University (FCRH) and i’m just curious as to where I would be able to transfer with good extracurriculars a 1320(710M/610CR) SAT (2000 w/ writing) and a 3.7 or greater GPA. (Disclaimer: I don’t actually have this GPA as it is still my first semester). In HS I had about a 90 average. I’m curious if I were too achieve a GPA of 3.7 or greater where would I be able to transfer? I’m very interested in UNC Chapel Hill, William and Mary, UVA, Vanderbilt.

A few subquestions…

  1. Will one semester of a 3.7 get me into the schools listed, when taking into consideration everything else I mentioned?
  2. Does it hurt to apply? (If I weren’t to get in, and decided to apply again next year, would previously being denied put me at a disadvantage at all?)
  3. Is there any modified transfer process for schools that I applied to and was accepted to out of High School?
  4. Do schools like UNC and UVA still have extremely selective acceptance rates for OOS students for transfers.
  5. Would it be necessary to retake my SAT for these schools?
  6. Would Fordham being Jesuit give me any advantage if I applied to Georgetown?
  7. Are High School extracurriculars considered in the application process?

It sounds like you are doing well at Fordham. If you have scholarships / financial aid, it usually works best to stay at the same school. If you are not yet feeling settled there, know that sometimes it takes a while to “find your tribe” at a new school.

I should add, I want to transfer because Fordham does not carry the major that I want.

Contact the places where you were admitted before, and ask them what you would need to do in order to be considered for admission. Some might be happy to have you second semester this year.
