Where can one get published?

I write articles on politics for a local paper. I was wondering if there were any larger newspapers or magazines that published articles or essays?

ny times op-ed

dont you have to work for the NYTimes to be an op-ed columnist?

not sure but readers digest?

no, op-ed accepts unsolicited manusrcipts from anyone.

readers digest just republishes previously printed material

Op-eds of national paers and magaizines. I'll give you a cookie if you get published in the Economist :)

letter to the editor?

how do you submit an op-ed piece then? they always seem to be written by a NY times columnist of a famous person. Im a very good writer, tell me how and ill try :P

how to submit an op-ed

http://www.nytimes.com/ref/membercenter/help/opedsubmit.html

good luck, its tough

no offense but there is no way in hell the nyt will take a high school work... they go for people with big titles and influence. although poss if you wrote it as a high school perspective or something it would work... i'd try something more washington post-y i guess, but even they are a bit picky

ya im sure they are extermely hard, im open to more suggestions if you have any.

no, if you work on it, you can most def be published in the new york times op-ed (assuming you have some sort of ability to begin with).

if you read the linked articles that are on the page i posted above, you'll see that the nyt raises the bar for high-influence persons who have other medians to express their message.

what does op-ed mean?

Opposing Editorial - It's the page opposite of the editorial.

If I'm wrong, I'm a disgrace to journalism and should reconsider Medill. At least that's what I remember from my freshie publications class.
