Where could I get in???

I've been looking at the middle 50% SAT scores for schools but I think they might be a little misleading (ex: sure maybe 25% of people got into "X" with a 690 on CR but they might have had and 800 for math) but I cant find cumulative scores anywhere.

So I'm not looking for a definitive chancing here. I'm just wondering where people with my stats end up generally.

GPA: 3.5
SAT: 2050 (retook yesterday, hopefully it will be higher)

Again, it doesn't need to be definitive, hence the scanty stats.

I think USNews has cumulative M+CR score ranges.

What is your M+CR score:

However, getting accepted is only half the battle. What’s your major? What kind of schools do you like? What’s your budget?

M+CR score: 1400
Major: Business (or Economics)
The schools on my list are varied but I’m mostly curious about what the best I can do is with these stats. In regard to region, pretty much anywhere except the midwest.

With a 1400 M+CR, then you’re good for a lot of schools. However, your 3.5 GPA might keep you out of top schools that really care about GPA and rank.

Acceptance is only half the battle. Affording it is the other half.
What’s your budget? how much will your parents spend?

I can’t imagine that my parents will be able to spend more than ~$10,000/year.

Is your 3.5 GPA weighted or unweighted? If it’s unweighted, assuming your weighted one would be higher, you may want to look into Chapman in California. Great Business and Economics programs.

Yes, my GPA is 3.5 unweighted.

Any others?

Perhaps NYU, Boston University, University of Rochester, Wake Forest, Michigan (not sure why you would write off the entire midwest) (Michigan is good for business, and in your range)

But if money is a concern, then your state’s flagship university (maybe their honors program).

^ What? NYU and UMich OOS for a family that can afford $10K??

OP, look instate at the SUNYs.

I second BU

What state do you live in?
Some schools in your state probably have very reasonable in-state tuition rates.

New York.
What are some schools within these qualifications have good financial aid.

What is your EFC? Your family may make too much money to really qualify for FA.

with your stats you could get merit at UAB of about 10K per year (3.0 gpa and 28-36 act) would bring the coa to between 10-14K (oos coa=20-24K). what do you want to major in? strong school (tier 1 research) for sciences or anything health related… also full range of other majors

[Welcome[/url]

oops just saw you said business for your major:

Collat School of Business | UAB](http://www.uab.edu)

Not sure what my parents EFC is but we qualify for aid at my current high school, if that helps.

Qualifying for aid at a private high school is NOT the same as qualifying for aid at college…especially OOS publics which don’t often give much aid, altho some give good merit.

UMIch (if OOS) and NYU will not be affordable. Your stats aren’t high enough for big merit and you won’t get much in need-based aid from either.

EFC only determines Federal aid, which is NOT much. The phrase Expected Family Contribution is a misnomer. It does NOT mean that is all a family has to pay. It’s only a number to determine federal aid, which isn’t much. Most schools do not meet need.

You need to protect yourself and also apply to some schools that will give you large merit for your stats.

What state are you in?

NY, so the CUNY/SUNY schools, right?
Any out of my price range that I can get into?

CUNY Baruch has a great program and your SATs are over the 75%ile and near the 70%ile for GPA.

*NY, so the CUNY/SUNY schools, right?
Any out of my price range that I can get into? *

???

Not sure what you’re asking. Are you asking which SUNY/CUNYs cost $10k per year? I think they all cost more than that if living on campus.

However, with your 1400 M+CR you should be able to get good merit at some…I think Buffalo gives good merit for high SATs.

Have you asked your parents how much they’ll pay each year? If not, do so. Guessing $10k is not a good idea unless that’s what they’ve actually said.

Also, find out what your EFC will be. NY gives state aid to low income students, but we don’t know if you’re low income or not.
