Greetings,
First, thanks for taking the time out for reading this. Second, I am only a sophomore, so this is sort of like a hypothetical thread, however more than half the following stats are true, and the others basically reflect the future ahead of me if I stay on the same path. The purpose of this thread is to see if I am setting my goals high enough, and if not, I want to adjust them accordingly. Now, please do not be rude and tell me to come back in a year, if you do not want to post, DON'T.

So the question is, what are the best universities I can get into? Also, do I have a shot at the Ivies?

you have at least some sort of chance at any school in the country if you ask me.

Yes, you have a shot at any school there is.

Ivies are reaches for everyone but you have a decent shot. Anythinng outside of the top 25 is a safety.

I think you have a good chance anywhere. However don't count you chickens before they hatch. Are you sure you can get like 5's in all the exams you take? AP's are really hard. You may think you'll get 5's, but you could get a 4. Also those tennis stats are impressive. Good Job. I hope your essay at least mentions those.

Look at how he did in the intel Comp. He's only a sophomore!

Well Bill, my brother was a finalist, so I'm hoping I can get some help from him and follow his footsteps.

Thanks for your compliment on the tennis, yes, that one is a real stat, I was ranked #9 last year, and I am sure I'll keep in the top ten this year (states and stuff start tomorrow.) Also, about the AP thing, I understand it is very difficult to get all 5's, I actually took two AP exams this year, AP Euro and AP Psyc, and I think I did very well. But if I do come across by a 4, I probably wouldn't put that on my application, since that would be quite meaningless to the top universities. So, I'm definitely going to devote lots of time, perhaps many all-nighters if needed in order to grasp that goal.

Anyhow, you guys have sure sounded very optimistic, are you sure one with these stats would have a decent shot at the Ivies? I mean I know I'll definitely get into a top 20 school because my father went to Berkeley, so the legacy would definitely decide that, but recently I've been setting my sights into Brown, Dartmouth, etc. I was actually expecting some criticism that would make me upset and force me to set my goals even higher...I guess not?

Also, I want to attend RSI, but I did not put that along with the stats above because I've heard the acceptance rate of that program, as far as the applications from NY are considered, is around 5%? So I'm staying a bit more on the safe side and am definitely aiming for SUMAC.

Have you taken the PSATs, or is the 23 a pure conjecture?

Sorry I should have mentioned, anyhow, I got an 80 80 70 on the math, critical reading, and writing parts respectively on the PSAT.

Saadismyname, I don't think Berkeley favors legacies since it is a public institution (correct me if I'm wrong guys). Nevertheless, I think you can call Cal a safe match (assuming you are in state). Best of luck =]

I WANT CAL!!! (sorry guys couldn't resist)

anyways, back to the topic.

To the OP, very good solid stats.
