Standardized tests: I'm taking the ACT in December. I expect a high score, based off of the scores I received after taking practice tests (Barron's).

^ I don't know what else to do for EC's! I haven't really found a passion yet.

I'm not applying to any Ivies or anything. I'm thinking more along the lines of Penn State, UConn, UMass...schools like that. What do you guys think?!?

ALSO, if it helps, I went to a great private school 9th-11th. :)

You could get into UMass, PSU, and UConn. Which UMass and PSU campuses are you applying to? (I’m applying to both of them)

I am applying to UMass Amherst and UMass Dartmouth!!
Possibly Penn State Harrisburg (any opinions?) and PSU University Park :)

Yay! I’m applying to Dartmouth too. I already submitted my application but they told me they can’t make a decision until I send in my 1st sem grades. :/

I disliked Harrisburg when I toured it. I liked York and Wilkes-Barre.

Does anyone know anything about Salem State University in Massachusetts? I am thinking about applying there but I’m not sure how good of a school it is.

1Rachel94, really!?!? What are your stats if you don’t mind my asking?!

What didn’t you like about Harrisburg? I’m interested since I haven’t been able to tour any colleges yet
(I live in Florida)

I’m basically the average student applying to UMass. (It’s a match for me. I’m right in the 50-75% range. PSU is more of a safety. Not University Park, but the other campuses.) The town is just kind of ugly. York is really pretty. Wilkes-Barre is a small city surrounded by mountains.

I’m from FL too.

Oh wow! Well I wish you good luck!!! and I will check out York and Wilkes-Barre. I just can’t really afford expensive schools, but I’m willing to do anything to get out of Florida.

I’m looking to do summer research in Neuroscience because I’d like to a neurologist. Do you know about anything in Florida that offers that for high school students?!

Bump, btw :)

That’s how I feel. Anywhere but Florida. I hate this state so much.

I went to Summer@Brown last summer. They have a great neuroscience course. I got a full scholarship. It was awesome. Even if you don’t plan on going to Brown you can still do courses there next summer. It’s not in Fl of course, but if you have a way to get there, it’s a great option.

You can get a TON of scholarships. I’ve already applied to $23,000 worth. Just google. There’s ones for everything. I can’t afford expensive schools either. ***************** and scholarships.org are good sources. Okay so apparently we can’t give the names of websites?

I’d love to go to Summer@Brown!!! Is it really hard to get into, though? I am assuming so because it is an Ivy League. Do my stats look good enough for it?

and I’ve been looking for scholarships but haven’t applied to any yet :(. I’m going to do that very soon. What scholarships have you applied to? :)

I got in and my stats are lower than yours, so I’m guessing you’d be fine.

***** can match you for a ton of the scholarships

Inch with a Z can help you, lol
