I made the Iowa All-State Band (supposedly considered one of the best in the country) on trumpet my junior and senior years, and also played in the University of Iowa, Augustana College, and Iowa State University honor bands my junior year (didn't want to do them again senior year so i didn't try).
I received several Division I "Superior" ratings for marching, jazz, and solo performances at state contest, and I received the "outstanding performance," best-in-center award my senior year at state solo contest. I was invited to play a recital at the Iowa State fair this summer

My college major is, once again, economics, and my first semester schedule is as follows:
Honors Written, Oral, Visual, and Electronic Communication
Intermediate Micro Econ (300-level course)
Honors Calculus II
Honors Classical Physics I
Library Instruction
Freshman Honors Seminar

I am fully intending to achieve a 4.0 GPA this next year (and every year) of college, and I am planning on being involved in Student Government, and music in some way or another.

So, what schools could I apply to transfer to with a reasonable expectation of acceptance? BTW, I'd like to either stay in the midwest or go out east, if that helps. thanks

Look into the University of Chicago. It's relatively transfer friendly and has one of the best econ. departments in the country.

yeah..and wharton..........

You have a lot going for you and only one real negative - a low HS GPA. Nevertheless, adcoms at many top schools will probably look past that if you do well at Iowa State. Apply to top universities and top LACs (if you're interested); don't put any limits on how high you aim. If you have the time and money, I'd recommend applying to 6-8 top schools as you should get into quite a few and can then compare FA and personal preferences.

Thanks guys. I looked into both of those when I was applying to schools this past year, but I knew my gpa would seriously bring me down. Penn would certainly be awesome. Any other suggestions?

i would look at northwestern instead because you probably won't get into wharton.
