<p>The governor of California has a degree from one of the University of Wisconsin campuses (not Madison).</p>
<p>Hayden, Keith Kennedy, then Dean of Cornell Ag and Life, told me this story back in the 1970s. I believe he attributed it to a Cornell President speech to the Deans and professors of the colleges at Cornell. It went closer to this, "I ask that you be good to your A students because we may want them to come back as professors, and to be very good to your C students becauce they may come back and donate buildings."</p>
