<p>Yeah Kanye is cocky, but it's his personality. He's one of the best rappers/ beatmakers/ producers around, and he's not afraid to tell everyone about it. At least he's not like the people who pretend to be modest when in reality they think they are greatest things around. </p>
<p>I've heard that John Legend used to be an investment banker before Kanye West met him. I like that Kanye, Common, John Legend trio, they're great rappers but don't have to act like they're so gangsta.</p>
<p>Well I say it's good to see a rapper who doesn't sing about b*tches and hos. So he talks about the diamond trade, thats a lot better than popping a cap in someones @$$. LOL, there will always be a complaint, I guess. Can't win em all ;)</p>
<p>actually he does rap about hoes and drugs. every heard of "celebrity" with twista or "get em high" with common and talib kweli or "number one" with john legend. people need to listen to a lot more music by an artist other than whats played on the radio. seriously, i dont like kanye, but i know or have heard more about him than most of you braggin about how he's great and all. </p>
<p>anyway, i dont have anything against him really, or anyone who likes him. its just kanye's motives seem even more shady than most since he's exploiting (to me it seems) subjects like religion and civil war. i love john legend and common, and they're kind of cocky. but at least they rap/sing about things and it doesnt come off as trying so hard to make the perfect formula. they rap/sing about anything from true love to cheatin on women. but they way common and john legend do it is more natural, no matter if its about cheating or love. though kanye may produce great music and all, he's just too pretentious for me to like him as an artist.</p>

<p>I think that all of you guys are putting to much emphasis on the fact that kanye raps about jesus but on the other hand also raps about gettin high. Everyone has different sides of themselves. For example if someone is spiritual it doesnt mean that they are going to be 100% of the time (as many of us here on cc are I would imagine). It is better that kanye has a single on his album that praises jesus than not having one at all. </p>
<p>Kanye speaks of his success so much because he was told by so many people that he couldnt do what he is doing now. He had to hustle so much to get where he is now. So he feels as if he needs to constantly remind people of his position of power. If you listen to the last track on his album "Last Call" it gives you a 12:40 explanation on kanyes life. I am guessing many of you have not listened to this song b/c it does not appeal to one's self like the other songs.</p>
<p>well i think that every famous person, or a lot of them, are cocky. thats not what bothers me the most about kanye. a lot of artists talk about their fame and blah blah blah. its the fact that kanye raps about jesus and other such subjects for what seems to me to be the wrong reasons. i feel he raps about certain subjects like religion and politics just because he knows people will like him more and respect him if he does. i'm not that religious or freakishly into politics, but i feel like he's exploiting that. but thats just my opinion. you guys like him, i dont. we all have our opinions.</p>

<p>There is a difference between not liking an artist's music and attacking him personally. Which is what you are doing.</p>

<p>haha. i love it when people use bible quotes to support things like drug use and stuff. i dont know if you quoted that jokingly or not (not meaning whether its an actual quote or not). but its funny how people use quotes from the bible as if the bible is indefinitely right or its human law or something. anyway, its still a great quote. </p>
<p>and as a random side note, dont you guys think it makes more sense for weed to be legal since its a natural herb than tabacco being legal? i know tabacco itself is natural, but deadly chemicals are mixed with it to create the marketed tabacco products, which cause cancer and such. but weed kinda helps cancer patients in a way. so besides the whole tax situation on tabacco products, doesnt it makes sense to legalize weed in that sense, since its comparitively "'healthier". and if you do use the whole "well tabacco product taxes lower other taxes" stance, then weed would be one more thing to tax that would lower other taxes. anyway, random thought.</p>

<p>i'm not personally attacking kanye. i'm giving my own opinion on how i view him as an artist and as a person. you are doing the same thing, except you are saying positive things cuz you like him. i dont really like him, therefore my opinion of him is negative. and even if i did start attacking him personally, are you kanye or his mama that you have to get all mad about it? we're all discussing kanye in this thread. and its not even titled the " i love kanye west" thread or anything either. and i have the right to say if i dislike him or not. everyone's got an opinion.</p>
