Where did you NOT get in that you thought you SHOULD have?

Who would want to go U.T. when they could go to Hopkins. Fabulous school, professors, and the swim coach is a GREAT guy. If you choose this one , wow!!! top notch, better ranked than u.t. for sure

sad very sad, rejected by UVa, hopkins, and Duke, UVa should reconsider (me)my daughter she fits really well there !Maybe I should file an appeal!

hey klo9 can my daughter have your waitlist spot at UVa???? she's still crying, want's to be with brother....star athlete at virginia.

same with shasheenmachine

NYU CAS waitlisted........... i 'm sad

My D got rejected by 2 match schools - Wisconsin and UCSB. It makes no sense at all. She's ok though, thrilled to be going to BU.

Waitlisted at Barnard and Emory. I thought I had a real shot for acceptance at both schools, and my waitlist-safety (Miami, which, although nice, is too close to home and too much of a party school for me) now gets my deposit. I get an extra month of stressing. Yay.

Columbia University...but I don't care I got into my first choice school...i thought my stats were very good enough for admission into columbia....but its all good

waitlisted at U of Chicago...I worked really hard on their essays and kept in touch with the admissions staff! (i even became e-friends with one of them and talked about our shared passion for Golf! I wasn't sucking up...I was just proactive in letting U of Chicago know that they were one of my top choices)

Rejected outright from Tufts...I thought I had a decent chance...oh well...

Oh well, I'm going to Johns Hopkins so I'm happy (I didn't know until i got in that JHU was one of the best institutions for International Relations/studies!)

Good luck to everyone wherever they may end up!
Remember! it's not where you go to college that determines how successful you are...it's how passionate, hardworking, and resilient you are that matters in the long run! I'm sure that everyone here in the CC community will become successful one way or another...with the help of those "prestigious" schools or not!

Accepted at UCLA (alumni scholar), USC, NYU, CLU, and waitlisted at Dartmouth . . .
but rejected at Pepperdine. So weird. Luckily UCLA has been my top choice for a long time, so I'm just soooooo thankful to have been accepted there.
Maybe Pepperdine takes into consideration religious involvement? I don't do church choir or youth group or anything.
Haha, oh well! I'm glad it was just a safety!
Sorry to everybody who got really weird and/or dissapointing results as far as apps go. This year was very unpredictable and weird. Anyway, hang in there CC peeps!

Got wailtlisted at Skidmore, even though I got scholarships at University of Rochester and Ohio State Honors, plus a waitlist at Cornell. Ugh. Skidmore was just shocking because they selected me from my school to fly up on their tab and stay to visit! Why would you do that if you weren't interested in accepting, not to mention my scattergram stats were 5 ACT points higher than the average and my GPA was a full .5 higher... Plus I had a great interview.

Oh well, I'll be happy at U of R

Hi distraught ones.

D waitlisted at Villanova. She was rejected at BC and HC.

On the plus side, she was accepted at PC, Stonehill, Babson, Tulane and received strong merit money from each of the schools.

No longer sure how this process works. I am a former Director of College Guidance in HS, and I am a current elementary school principal.

D had 1920 in boards, 4.4 weighted GPA, two years of community service in a leadership capacity, two Varsity Captainships in XC and basketball. V BBall won the DVC1 central MA divisional region championship.

What are highly competive schools looking for? I believe they know and could say... minimum gpa of 4.4, minimum boards of 1800, minumum of 4 AP scores over 4.

Why is it so mysterious? I think it is all disingenuiness.

Lucky30

swarthmore, penn, and ursinus. yep yep.

GWU (10 char)

Why is it so mysterious?

Because the rules aren't the same for everybody. It varies from student to student and from year to year. (imo)

nyu early decision. it was a hit or miss but it really sucked to see minorities getting in with much lower stats than mine.

otherwise, i didnt manage being overqualified or underqualified well (didnt interview or tour most backups, same with some of the reaches after nyu and i think my common app essay was too unusual and intense for all of these schools). all waitlists, by the way:

syracuse management- waitlisted at arts and sciences
muhlenberg college
lafayette college
emerson college
american university
lehigh university

pirateslove - Don't feel bad about Claremont McKenna, they only accept about 228 students...don't count on getting in on the waitlist either.

Lemme add to my growing list of waitlists and rejections: Vassar.

Maybe it's cos I never wanted to go there - I found out about the "Your Space" thing after sending the application. :D

UCLA..accepted a rejection from berkeley but not from UCLA..kinda ****ed..whatever.. going to CASE next year..hope my grad application is MUCH better than my undergrad...actually it WILL be better!!
