Hey guys, hang in there! You are all great canidates elsewhere. Besides, it appears that most of us applied to a numerous amount of schools. I mean, some schools had nearly 40 THOUSAND students apply!

UVA.. my stats are definitely good enough for them + i'm instate. I was really kind of shocked, and it really hurt as just about all my friends got in except for me. I wish I knew their reasoning for rejecting me. Oh well.. At least it cut down the list of places I'd have to decide between in the end!

I should've gotten into UVA and UNC-Chapel Hill. And Duke. My stats were strong enough for an almost surefire acceptance to all three schools, according to my school's Naviance information and graphs.

I mean, getting waitlisted at UNC and Duke aren't as bad as being rejected, but seriously I thought I'd be IN at UVA.

Whatever, UVA wasn't my first choice at all (more like my money-saving mother's first choice school) and I wouldn't attend even if I had gotten in, so I guess everything happens for a reason.

i got waitlisted to American, i mean my stats wer all easilt within range and my math SATs were well above the average. i probably didn't show enough interest, oh well. wasn't my top choice anyways

I... CAN'T... BELIEVE THIS!
I got rejected from Northeastern and was wait listed at Bentley. I mean, it's not like I was going to go to them, but I got into schools with much, much higher requirements! (NYU, BU, CMU and PSU Honors!)

UCI rejected me. I mean, I thought I was a shoo in there. All of my friends thought it too. But the UC's are really wierd this year. Appealing. Has anyone sent in appeals to any of the UC's? How long does it take for them to get back to you if you have?

Waitlisted at Quinnipiac....rejected from the pharmacy program at URI (my state school)with a crappy financial package....so BU's looking PRETTY good right now..... ;)

i really think they should take more into account, when people talk about how certain schools are their "dream" schools. it just seems as if, with a records number of people applying to many top schools, if you have your heart set on a school and WILL go there if admitted, that should count for more. idk

Some schools know what is going on.....they can find out through many sources and sometimes through your FAFSA applications etc.....so a rejection or waitlist may be them saying to you, "we know you are going elsewhere...so.....here you go....right back at you."

Sometimes its just weird science. I mean that.

A lot of the people in admissions are recent graduates of that school and they have agendas and personality quirks...like all humans.

Its tough to swallow. I know, my D got hammered by W & L last year and what should have been a sure thing....she was a summer scholar and was HIGHLY recommended by W & L faculty.....and then found out kids with lower scores and who weren't exactly model students got admitted. So go figure.

So you move on. In a spiritual sense, there is a reason in the Heavens you may not be aware of....but will become clear to you..this happens so often...kids who are bitter and get burned.

My D is at a school we did not anticipate....and then she met her boyfriend who also got hammered at a prestigious school last year...and broke his heart...now they are together and see the light....

so take a day to grieve, then move on and turn the page. If waitlisted you can do what you can....but dont obsess about it. Embrace the colleges that take you.
