The impossible happened today, and after being rejected from a few financial safeties and one of my top choices (St John’s College, waited too long to apply), I got a fat envelope from Bard College. 3.09, 29 ACT. Anything is possible kids.

I have a 3.2 GPA. 2200 SAT and 31 ACT and a rigorous courseload, so I thought I’d have a better chance than I ended up having. But whatever.

I got wait-listed at the University of Washington (in-state) and I got accepted at Boston University. I guess that’s kind of an accomplishment? The other nine schools were all rejections.

I’m a student (sophmore) with a 3.2 or 3.3 UW GPA. It’s around a 4.1 weighted, with all honors courses. I’m involved in STAND (2 years) SADD (2 years) and Newspaper (2 years), in addition to an after school job.

I’m hoping to major in nursing, and the schools I was looking at so far are: Northeastern, BC, UCONN, UMASS Dartmouth, and Quinnipiac.

Can I get in at any of these schools? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Dessi= There are two other threads for 3.0-3.3 students (one for 2012 graduating class and another for 2013). Those would be good to follow.
Sorry I don’t know about nursing in those schools- you could also check out Simmons College in Boston for Nursing.

I think SUNY Binghamton might be a bit of a reach, too. Pretty hard to get into with a 3.0-3.2 I think- don’t know about the nursing program though.

^^It may depend on the school. We’re out-of-state for Binghamton but, according to Naviance, the average gpa getting accepted from our school (suburban public) is 3.3 uw with the low being 3.0/1800. I don’t know if it would be higher or lower for Nursing but, from here, it looks like a possibility, especially with commesurate scores. (Cincinnati’s unweighted accepted gpa from our school is 3.1.)

I’m a senior, and I got accepted into Carnegie Mellon, Wake Forest, and Rutgers Pharm with a 3.2 UW GPA (class rank was top 40%, although my school doesn’t report it to colleges) and a 1540/2290 SAT. No hooks - I’m a middle-class Asian male who sucks at science and math. Waitlisted at Vanderbilt (going to try getting accepted from the waitlist), UNC Chapel Hill, and NYU Stern. The average GPAs of people who got accepted into these schools (minus Rutgers) from my HS hovered around 3.7-3.8.

I’m hoping the weighted GPA and my volunteer hours will push me over the top at a few places. I’m going to try to pull a 4.0 next year (aka not sleeping at all). We’ll see, all I can do is try.

Hi, i’m a now about to be a senior in high school in CA, and i need your guys help.
My gpa is hovering around to 3.0 range but depending on senior year could be 2.9 or could be 3.1. I do several things outside school, and i am on my schools varsity water polo and swimming teams. I took the sat and got 1480(yeah…). I’d like to go to a college with sports teams, but my mom thinks i am not ready and should go to santa monica college(our city cc). I need some help, Thanks

Smugness, you wrote you “suck at science and math” but, in previous posts, you wrote that you had 8 APs and 800 SAT II MATH 790 SAT II CHEM. You also posted during senior year that you had 5s on AP Chem, Bio, Calc AB, Music Theory, English Lang and were taking AP Econ, AP Stat, AP Calc BC, AP English Lit senior year. And, besides all that, you said you’ve played at Carnegie Hall numerous times. I think the information you left out gives a hint as to why those schools would admit you despite a low general gpa and SAT.
