where do I go from here?

I'm a junior and I really don't have much of a clue as to where I'm going to apply for college next year or where I have the best chances of getting accepted.
Here's some stats:
gpa: 4.14
rank: 45 (which is top 3% at my school)
extra curricular: varsity golf (all four years), nhs, habitat for humanity, volunteering at my church, have had some work experience.
I really want a golf scholarship and am planning to enter into a career of psychiatry. I think location is important for colleges...so preferablly I would like to be where it's not cold all the time. I love summer weather. Diversity is important too, I want a college that's diverse in the racial stats.
Can anyone give suggestions as to what colleges you think I should consider researching?

Have you tried a college search at www.collegeboard.com or www.petersons.com?

Give me 5 pieces of information:

1) SAT/SAT II
2) Unweighed GPA
3) AP classes/AP scores
4) ECs
5) Golf Handicap

www.ncaa.org

link to spring sports, golf W and it will give you histories and polls of some of the top golf schools

click back to the main page for spring sports and over to the left of the page is a link for lists of NCAA sports sorted by school

This will give you info on the D I, II, III schools. You can also sort the schools by state or region. That way you can pull up regions you like. After that check out some specific schools that might interest you by going to their web pages and under athletics pick women's golf. You can tell by their roster and stats if you would be competitive. From there pull up the schools academic stats and see if that is compatible for you.

Most D I, II and some III schools have athletic recruit questionares on their athletic website. If you are interested, fill it out, email/submit it back and they will contact you. If you are thinking D 1 or 2 you will need to register with the NCAA Clearinghouse, also on the NCAA website.

Good luck.

Kat

I haven't taken SAT or ACT yet but I got a 194 on the PSAT(78 on Critical Reading, 56 on math, and 60 on writing skills). I am not sure of my unweighted GPA. Golf handicap I haven't actually calculated but I shoot usually in the 80s and my best is a 78.
AP classes:
World History and I got a 3 on the exam.
I am currently taking AP US History, AP Psychology, and AP English Lit.
Do you think applying to Stanford would even be worth a try..or am I way over my head?
thanks!

In which state do you live?
What will your major be?

I live in Texas and I'm leaning towards a Pre-Med major but I'm more undecided than sure.

why dont you get in touch with some coaches to see if you can get recruited to a good program?

I dont see how you can get a scholarship in golf when your best score is a 78

because I am a girl

Amont, you jhave a good GPA and a reasonable class ranking to be considered for an athletic scholarship at a good university. Stanford and Duke may be a bit of a reach, but there are many other decent universities with decent Golf programs that would definitely consider you.

I think a handicap of 6 for a 16 year old is excellent. Should you lower your handicap to 4 and improve your consitancy over the summer, you would actually be in good shape for a golf scholarship. If you can do that and assuming you do well on your SAT, given your GPA and class rank, Stanford would certainly be possible, albeit a reach.

u got all summer to think about it, enjoy the rest of ur junior year. I dont understand why its a big concern as of right now?
