Where do I go?

Hey, I am a Sophomore IB student and I have been thinking a lot about colleges lately, and I really don't know much about where to go. I mean I know everyone wants to go to an Ivy League and I'm no different, but I know little of other great schools that get less attention. So, if you could perhaps help me out with that, it would be great. I am hoping to to pre-med in College.

Bump Bump.

What do you want to major in? Are you looking at a public or private school? LAC? Make sure you discuss finances with your family first.

Many schools have great premed programs, and there are many top notch non Ivy schools that are great for premed.

Well, I guess I would major in Biomed. And as far as private vs. public and LAC vs University, I don’t really know enough to have a preference. Privates are more money, no? My income is just barely 100,000 so I am going to need schools that have economic aid/shcolarships.

Shameless Bump

If Biomedical engineering- Johns Hopkins is pretty much the consensus #1 school- I really don’t know much about the field, but there are plenty of threads that address what some of the top schools are for BME.

What!!! How are you able to get a 5.0 gpa!!! In my school we have to take gym every year so the smartest kids cannot ever achieve a 5.0 weighted!!!

The IB programme allows you to not take a P.E. class

Plus, some schools are weighted differently. I’ll have a 5.42 at the end of this semester, and I’m expecting upwards of a 6.02 at the end of my senior year. Yet, students at schools around my area barely break 4.75. Even when they have similar course loads and a 4.0 UW.
