Where do I have a potential of getting in with a 3.3 GPA

I’m applying to transfer from a community college this August-November. I’m on track and am basically done with my IGETC. My major is sociology. Which UC’s do I have a potential to get into?

Look into TAG (http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/tag-matrix.pdf) so that you are guaranteed at least one.

I’m not familiar with sociology, but @2016Candles is, so hopefully she can be of some help.

I think UCLA/UCB are probably out though.

Edit: will you be TAP certified?

I really haven’t looked into thee TAP program. I would have to talk to my counselor.

UC Merced

Jk ;

Merced and maybe Riverside.
Try the Cal states as well.

I think if you can raise your 3.3 a little by the end of fall, Irvine could be an option. Also look into Irvine’s Psych and Social Behavior. It’s sort of a bridge between Sociology and Psychology, if that’s appealing to you.

UCI is probably your highest reach. UCSD is out along with UCLA and UCB.

UCR is a good school.
Merced accepts nearly everyone. Make sure to check if its program is accredited since it’s young.

Each Cal State has its own specialties. Find one that has good sociology and apply to that. I’m not sure how competitive the cal states are these days, but don’t be hesitant to have more than one safety.

You could try UCSC as well.
