So i'm visiting some friends at ucla this weekend and need to know where I should park because I heard it's really hard to get a good parking spot.

I will be staying overnight too.

Any thoughts/advice? I need the insider's scoop.

Just circle the apartment area and find a spot. Pay very close attention to signs though. Some are two hour parking during the day, some are no parking on either Thurs or Fri.

You could also park in one of the the large pay lots on campus. It may cost around $10 but better than getting a parking ticket. Have your friend scope out the parking lots/structures on campus to find the best one. Look for a campus map on the ucla website as all parking lots are well marked.

what about if I need to park at ucla, and it’s too late for me to get a parking permit, starting in the morning since I have to commute to get to my classes? is there sometimes parking on gayley/veteran/etc for all-day parking?

ok, so parking lot 4 has spaces. But if i want to visit my friends at night, such as tonight, where can I park for free? on gayley, veteran, etc?

oh, after a certain point I believe you can park all around that area for more than two hours. It’s hard to find parking sometimes, but if you look around long enough there should be parking.

‘There sometimes is parking, if you come early in the morning’

well I came to school by vanpool and arrived at UCLA around 6:30am, and just checked gayley/veteran/etc periodically until 8am, but didn’t see ANY all-day parking spaces as the only available ones were for just 2 hour parking. After my class ended at 10am, I scouted again those places again and again found nothing

This is one aspect of UCLA that needs no constructive criticism at all. The parking issue is b!.tch. I am sorry to say the profanity word to emphatically make this claim, but I really could not find any more appropritate term to describe my frustration back when I was a student.

I can only imagine that the situation has gotten worse in recent years. Back then, I used to pay $6 per day, but now they are charing what, $9, $10 per day???

If you are visiting a friend at UCLA, you have several options:
Cruise for parking along Veteran (next to the Cemetary) after 12PM on Friday, and do not move the car until the end of the weekend.
Park in Lot 36 or PS down by Veteran and Wilshire; it’s $7 per day after 4:30 M-F and all-day Saturday and Sunday. Technically, it’s to accommodate people who park during the weekend for FlyAway…
Don’t drive to UCLA. The area is served by 16 bus lines; FlyAway; and Amtrak Thruway.

-UNOFFICIAL words from someone who works for the transportation department

It shows you all the streets that have free street parking and also shows you the cheapest lots to park at if you need to find a place to park overnight.
