Hello, I am a rising senior and I am currently enrolled in a science research course in my school. This is a dual enrollment course and with this course, I was able to conduct medical research, create a 20-page research paper, and win at multiple science fairs. What section in the common app would I talk about that? Technically, it’s a class so it’s not an EC. However, I want to be able to highlight this course in my application and show my dedication to science, since I want to major in bio next year.
Thanks
Being a competitor at a Science Fair can be considered an EC if you frame it as so. Alternatively, you could put it in the “extra information” section at the end of the activities list, choose one of the science fair awards for the “awards” section, put an in-depth explanation in a resume, or write about it in your personal statement or supplements (ALOT ask about intellectual interests and this is a perfect example bc you are going into bio). However, putting it in your EC list will have the most impact as admissions officers really consider those to be the most important/ impressive parts of an applicant (however, a resume can do the same if not more). Only if you have space should you put it, otherwise the extra info section and resume are the best places.
