I wrote a letter updating them my interest, fit, and my updates. Do I mail my letter to undergrad office of admissions with my name, b-day, COMMON APP (Harvard doesn't seem to have its own ID)??????

Send an e-mail to fileroom@fas.harvard.edu with the word “Waitlist Update” in the subject line. Include your full name, date of birth and high school. (BTW: The fileroom does not open attachments, so you will need to copy and paste the letter into the body of an email.) You can also send a hard copy to:

Office of Admissions and Financial Aid
Harvard College
86 Brattle Street
Cambridge, MA 02138

There isn’t a preference, other than to do it ASAP!!!

1) Fax the letter. It will not get lost and given that tomorrow is May 1st, it will probably be the quickest way to update the admissions office.

2) If you don’t know the name of your officer, entitle the letter “Dear Officers Of Admissions.”

3) Don’t send in an envelope or by post – it’s kind of too late for that! Fax away!

Although both are pretty fast, my gut feeling is that a fax will probably be seen to first, as pages spewing out of the fax machine cause clutter and demand immediate attention. By contrast, emails just sit there until someone opens them, reads the contents, prints the email and then files the paperwork in the appropriate file.
