I am starting to really think about college and I need some opinions on where I stand. I'm not Ivy material whatsoever but I'm looking for some solid schools. (BTW I'm very weak in math)

10th Grade
-English Pre-AP (honors)
-Chemistry Honors
-Trigonometry Regents
-AP World History
-Italian Honors
GPA so far this yr: 3.6

On the PSAT I got a high 680s without studying and it was my first time.

Extra Curriculars
-Tri-M Music Honor Society
-International Thespian Society
-Varsity Kickline
-Masquers Theater Group (school plays)
-Peer AIDS Leadership Program
-NYSSMA for 6 consecutive years
-Community Service Award 3 consecutive years
-All County Chorus
-Cross Country 3 consecutive years
-National Honors Society
-CCFA - TeamChallenge 2010 Las Vegas RocknRoll Marathon completed half marathon and raised 9000$ & also served as Honored Hero

Also currently participating in Euro Challenge!

Your GPA is fine for those colleges and you will definitely do fine on the SAT (given that you didn’t study for 680’s) But study!! Try to boost up your GPA if you can though and maybe you may be able to shoot for higher standing colleges ;)

Also I would suggest to cut down the ECs you will be putting on your college apps because colleges like to see devotion and passion rather than ok standings in multiple ECs. But if you are super equally passionate about all of those ECs I think that’s good too. You just have to show it your essay (extremely important). I also don’t know about the colleges you are applying to so I guess you could look at other chance threads that do mention your colleges so that you will have some insight.

Again I stress the importance of having a couple things you are passionate about and keep working on those until senior year (preferably 2~3 things) Like for me, it would be Computer Science and Graphic Design(as a passionate pastime).

Hope I helped!

Thank you so much for imput! I do hold positions in those clubs- should’ve mentioned it! Definitely makes sense! Looking at Colgate, Bryn Mawr, Barnard etc.

I had all those classes by the end of Sophmore year with the exception of Itailan Honors and not sure what regents is but I had geometry and tri as one class. Given your high GPA and multiple honors classes you’re good enough just don’t screw up the SAT. Not sure how are you suppose to calulate your PSAT scores when you have 3 different double digits numbers though?

Thanks! Not quite sure- the school sent everything to me and that was my overall score… Will check that out though!

Your GPA is not helping for Ivy-caliber schools.

Not looking for Ivy’s. Brandeis would be a reach. I’m looking at Colgate and Bryn Mawr.

Well good luck. Just keep up the good work. (soucres say that SAT are usally higher then PSAT.)
