Where do I stand?

During my 1st semester of freshman year I had A’s and B’s and a C in Algebra, and 2nd semester of that year I had all A’s and B’s.
Now, I’m a sophomore. Grades have closed for the first semester and I ended up with all A’s, yet a D in geometry.

I would like to go to ASU (Arizona State University). When colleges look at my transcript, will that one C or one D affect me, or will they just see and understand that I’m not so great at math?

2 grades won’t kill you, but work on keeping your gpa up and do well on the sat or act (I recommend you take both to determine which you’re better at). Try to do better this semester in math, getting a tutor is a good idea, and do well in other classes, too.

If ASU is the only school you will be applying to, then it won’t really affect your as long as you do better from now on and maintain your As and Bs, as ASU isn’t that much of a tough school.

But if you are applying to some harder schools, it may sometimes depend on what your major is going to be: If you are majoring in a STEM subject, then it will to some extent hurt you.
