Hello everybody @ CC. Well I'm starting my essay...yeah I know I'm a bit late, as I am applying for EA, or as early as possible for my RD schools.

Well I have my essay topic actually, its about my life, no financial hardship, but more a mental one (No Holden Caulfield type of crap neither.)

But where do I start? Like the first line of the essay...I don't understand how to begin.

What should I do?
A quote? A little background information?

Same here. Have 7 essays due before Nov 1. …Majorly screwed? Yes…

I suggest you check out some college essay writing books. I’m using Conquering the College Admissions Essays in 10 Steps. One tip that the author gives you is to just start in the middle of an action. It’ll be still interesting while saving you words.

@Audrey Haha big relief to know that i’m not alone. xP But actually I want to finish all of them by this week, so I can give them to my teacher to review. …I don’t think that’s possible. =/ It’s really ridiculous how I have to write 7 essays for just 2 schools…

Also, I don’t know if it’ll help, but look at the first paragraph of novels. Novels aren’t like research papers, so their intros are probably very similar to college essay intros.

I always got stuck on intros of anything I wrote. I found if I started writing the rest of it, I’d get “on the road” and then I could go back later & write the introductory sentence, paragraph, etc. By then I actually knew what I was going to say (having said it) and I could think of something witty & eye catching. Well I hoped it was anyway
