where do i start?

Ever since I was little I've been interested in films and now as a high school senior I am looking for a way to follow my dreams, so can anyone offer some advice on where I should go? I'm looking for a college that offers a BA or BAF in film production rather than just a film school. Thanks!

There are many programs that meet your criteria. Start by looking at the schools where you live to see if your state has some programs. In state tuition can be significantly less than out of state. Then you can look at NYU, USC, LMU-LA, Chapman, the California State Schools, CALarts, UNC School of the Arts, BU, UT- Austin, Emerson, Florida State and there are many others. If you tell us a bit more about yourself and your interests, maybe we can direct you further.

I currently live in Arizona and know I could get into any of the 3 state schools with large scholarships, however I would very much like to experience new things and to step outside my comfort zone (as well as escape the heat). There is the possibility of maybe transferring into another school at some point in college but I’m not sure whether that will actually be beneficial.

Here is more about me:
I am student body president as well as a member of NHS and National Art Honor Society, I have a 3.9 GPA, about 130 community service hours, have participated in many clubs ranging from Glee to the debate team, and have taken some AP courses.

I don’t know how this puts me for going into college, but any way you could help would be great.

Do you have any experience in film production, screenwriting, art, drama etc. Most of the top schools look for a creative resume as well as good grades, extracurriculars and test scores. It doesn’t HAVE to be film, but they want evidence you can creatively tell a story and have a passion for film. Check the threads at the top, they have good advice.

I currently go to an arts high school so I’ve taken film 2 years, 5 assorted art classes, a few years of drama and dance as well.
