where do people study at berkeley?

Are there libraries that are open 24/7? or like study rooms? I usually study late at night :(

I'm also wondering because there are so many students at berkeley, is it hard to find a quiet place to study at?

Unfortunately, there are no 24/7 libraries. The law library is open until 10 pm and i believe doe/moffit are open until 2 AM. if you live in the dorms there are special study areas. I know in foothill there is a " quiet study room" between building 6 and 7 and there is a “library” under building 8 that are open 24/7 as long as you have your dorm keys. (and i’m sure the same is true for other dorms) Also, if you’re a CS/EECS student you get unlimited access to soda and betchel hall. Otherwise, you can always pick an empty classroom and stay there until they kick you out. If you’re an upperclassman, usually your apartment will suffice as a quiet place to study (or you can always find a friend who has a quiet apartment lol)

The dorm lounge tends to be a good place to study if you are distracted in your room. Most people are considerate when it comes to studying. It’s usually quiet.

Dorm lounge gets fairly loud at times during the school year (especially in the units)

I suggest you go to main stacks. The first time I went from Moffit to mainstacks it was like going through this giant alleyway to Narnia. I’ve been calling Mainstacks Narnia ever since. It’s the most wonderful place to study in the world next to upstairs of Doe and The East Asian Library

In the library during the day, in my room at night. If roommates get annoying, I try to ask them to be quiet, but it’s just bad luck if you get ones who distract you too often.

I’ve been scoping out empty classrooms in Dwinelle lately. Dwinelle’s open late (not sure until when though), you can bring food with you, and there are multiple chalkboards in every room.

Some empty classrooms’ lightening turns off every 10-15 minutes and you have to wave your arms or walk around which is not worth it. If you’re on a rush to finish a problem set or a paper, you should be able to work anywhere lol. And I know this is unrelated to the topic, but having your own printer will save your butt more than once during the semester.

my girlfriend’s apt.

I used to study in the Anthro library on the 2nd floor of Kroeber. Very little foot traffic and fairly comfortable leather chairs.
