Hello! I just finished my junior year in high school. And this is gonna be my last year of school , and I wanna apply fo UC colleges.

So I know that they require to write a personal statement. SO I just wanna know where am I going to write my personal statement?? Am I gonna type online at home? Or am I gonna write at home and send them? Or am I gonna write inside the university? So if I write inside the university how much time do they give me?

Thank you very much for your help!!

You write it at home and copy/paste into the UC Application.

Hi Luckie thanks a lot for your reply!!! But I wonder how do they know if I write my personal statement alone or with somebody else if I write it at home??

They don’t know whether you wrote your essay entirely by yourself or with help from others. It’s assumed that you wrote your essay, but there’s no real way to verify that. You are, however, encouraged to seek feedback about your essay, as long as you don’t plagiarize or turn in an essay that someone else has written.

Additionally, the schools’ administrators are bright, give them some credit. What you write in your essay can be compared to other documentation. If you have someone else write it for you, your passion will not come through and admissions officers will recognize that lack of passion.

I don’t reccomend writing it with someone else specifically for the reason aunt bea mentioned above. Write it first and allow others to edit and make suggestions, but it should be your own. This is because they are very adept and want to hear the voice of you, the eighteen or seventeen year old that is applying not the adult. You often have the perfect “voice” to describe yourself that a “boring” adult who only knows part of you won’t be able to write about. You have the passions, the knowledge, and the skills to make it come alive, so just let it flow
