Just wondering...because I'm going to have to go buy stuff when I arrive on Campus. Is there nearby stores, such as Target, Wal-Mart, Bed,Bath and Beyond or anything? If so...how do we get there? I won't have a car.

hop on the bus to pyramid mall. it isnt really much of anything...1 level mall with the regular stores (A+F, hollister, gap, vs, aeropostale, old navy, etc.) and some weird additions like an ac moore and a target.

Oh good, I'm glad there's a Target.

Yeah, there's a Target... and I heard there's a Best Buy right in front of Pyramid Mall :)

I've never been on public transportation before..how's it work? Do I just tell them where to take me?

A Best Buy?!? Yes!! Is there some sort of a directory online with all the major ("big") stores around Ithaca, close to Cornell? :)

Go to tcatbus.com and look at all of the bus routes. Route 30 is the one that goes to the mall. You just hop on and get off when it arrives at the mall.

google pyramid mall there is a website...and there is no longer a A+F and no hollister

diehldun . . . perhaps

Shopping
Supermarkets

Bear Necessities in RPCC and J's in Noyes both carry the basic grocery needs -- milk, juice, bread, some frozen and canned foods with can be bought with BigRedBucks, Cash, Credit, CornellCard. In addition they have hygeine products, plates, utensils, paper, magazines, some greeting cards which you can purchase with Cash, Credit, Cornell Card. But if you want something specific, or just a larger selection, you will need to venture to one of the larger supermarkets in the area. You will need to either take the TCAT or take a car.

* Wegmans - By far the favorite grocery store, Wegmans is a nationally recognized, high quality supermarket. It is located downtown, on South Meadow Street (also Rt. 13) in a rather large area of clustered stores (what some might call a strip mall).
* Tops - Regional supermarket with a good bonus card and a few locations in Ithaca. There is a Tops located next to the Barnes & Noble which is next to Wegmans funnily enough. There is also a Tops near the Pyramid Mall.
* Wilson Farms - A mini-grocery store in Collegetown, Wilson Farms carries a good bit more than Bear Necessities, but you still may find it lacking.
* P&C Foods - A regional/standard supermarket with locations at East Hill Plaza and across the way from Pyramid Mall (less accessible than Tops)

The Shops at Ithaca Mall

Accessible by TCAT, car, or about a 45minute walk, The Shops at Ithaca Mall (formerly Pyramid Mall) is a one level indoor mall with enough stores to most likely satisfy your basic shopping desires. In addition to its stores, there is also a food court, and a movie theatre. Regal Cinemas shows all the first-run Hollywood movies you would expect. There is also a student discount Mon-Thurs.

Popular stores: Dicks Sporting Goods, Borders, Best Buy, Footlocker, American Eagle, Aeropostale, Pacsun, Gap, NY & Company, A&F, Victoria's Secret, The Bon*ton, Gamestop, Verizon, ATT, Sears, EB, Old Navy, and Target.
Stores - The Commons and Beyond

You know how familiar you are with Ithaca when "The Commons" makes sense geographically. Located roughly southwest of campus (and down into the valley part of Ithaca) and easily accessible via the #10 TCAT Bus, The Ithaca Commons is a pedestrian mall with a large number of independent shops and eateries. It's also a common place for festivals and city events.

Beyond The Commons, heading west (towards Wegmans) are a number of stores along Rt 13, such as Home Depot, Bed Bath and Beyond, Barnes & Nobles, Walmart, Lowes, Pier 1, EMS. For more information on Downtown Ithaca check out, "Ithaca is Downtown".

I'm in 2011 and I logged in.

Haha, there's a PacSun in Ithaca?!? That's hilarious, I wonder if they sell "different" stuff over there.

Same with soccer_guy; I'm 2011 and I logged in too.

Nope. It's all the same old boring American consumer craptacular. Everywhere in this country.

Trader K's is the only place you will ever need. I bought a beautiful shirt, complete with french cuffs, for seven dollars there.

Oh I meant if the PacSun in Ithaca sells the same stuff as the ones here in CA, but I know what you mean.

I've been hearing a lot of people here talk about "Trader K's"... will have to check that place out when I get there.

Cayuga..haha...are you aware that you're a master of deadpan?

I fine tuned it when I was a student at Cornell. It comes in handy, but the co-workers sometimes get annoyed. So I subject you all to it.
